The Ravens Lyrics
Only ashes and bones remain
My hair is wet, my eyes are sore
The past has been fed to the flames
I cannot breathe anymore
I try to stand on my feet, but I fall
I try to walk, but I crawl
Life – as we knew it, is over
And you are gone
Forever gone …
I will not bend to a cross
I will not kneel at your feet
Greed and anger
Made us younger
Couldn't save us when the tower fell
All my strength and all my hunger
All is lost
And none will live to tell
I rest in the ruins of days gone by
Of young affection and velvet sky
A slave to greed …
I do not feel regret anymore
I sense the presence of birds
Encircling me …
And I am gone
Til jord skal vi bli
Dark is the night
Dead is the moon
I will not kneel
I'd rather die
Facing my doom
I will not kneel
My hair is wet, my eyes are sore
The past has been fed to the flames
I cannot breathe anymore
I try to walk, but I crawl
Life – as we knew it, is over
And you are gone
Forever gone …
I will not kneel at your feet
Made us younger
Couldn't save us when the tower fell
All my strength and all my hunger
All is lost
And none will live to tell
Of young affection and velvet sky
A slave to greed …
I do not feel regret anymore
I sense the presence of birds
Encircling me …
And I am gone
Dead is the moon
I will not kneel
Facing my doom
I will not kneel

i saw this thing on the history channel about the goth wars. back when they were fleeing the huns they asked the romans for asylum. the romans granted it, to an extent, only allowing the strong and healthy ones asylum while the sick, elderly and young were left behind to die. the romans had promised farmland, but when food rations were low they sent the goths out on a meaningless quest, causing their numbers to wane even more. they had intended to use the barbarian tribes to fight for their purpose, but after such a betrayal the goths wouldn't stand for it, and so they rose up and rebelled against rome, sparing no man, woman or child. that was the first goth war.
i can't say for sure that's what the song is about, but whenever i listen to it, the song is called to mind.
..er, i meant whenever i listen to the song that event is called to mind.
