West Lyrics

Face down in the chemistry of sight and sound
I would never have gone
I would never have gone

This man is old, and fat, and sold us all (?)
I would never have gone
I would never have gone
I would never have gone

Between the skin and bone is where the west was won
I would never have gone
I would never have gone

Swallowing all the bowl by their orders (?)
I would never have gone
I would never have gone
I would never have gone

Honey this will be your future

Honey this will be
your future you should care enough to
carve your heart into a tree
initial it with someone special

good with the "initial" bit, i'll fix that, but i disagree with all the "concept album" theories that everyone is coming up with. These guys write their lyrics separately, from what I understand right before they record the vocals, and whoever records the vocals writes the lyrics. I don't think they organized it to be a big concept or anything. Each song stands on it's own. and each is amazing. I think the west is the west, and hes expressing the fact that the history books don't really tell you: the emotion that went into expanding the nation, or really the emotion that goes into anything. It's more than just names and dates.

I think that "Swallowing all the bowl by their orders" should be "Swallowing all the bull, by the horns". Ehh? Maybe? Thats just what I heard while listening to it.

who cares what this one is about. the piano is beautifully dark. The lyrics are great as usual, even if nobody can understand them. The ending is haunting...very haunting.

So when is the next album coming out boys? just kidding.

It should be

"Initial it with someone special"

the way you initial a hear in a tree with two letters of one you love. :) I'm really lost on this one though. What's the west? Maybe this is about the "war" in Rotten Hell, Running, and My My? I think that once this "future" occurs, he wants her to initial the tree so she'll always remember the past, or the good times. And not the bad like how "the people of the future" will remember only the bad times and betrails.

Overall, this is the most beautiful compilation I've heard of a person's struggle with finding meaning in life. The album captures the ups and downs, the turns to both belief and disbelief, the feelings of jubilation and of discord.

It strikes a cord with me because I've fought these same battles.

You may not be following his same path but you could learn a lot from these musings and struggles.

irishfreakout nailed all their songs on the head. all the guys in the band are Christians.(hence all the lyrics with Jesus as the centerpiece)

They're not real into the christian thing as far as i can tell, but it definitely seems they were raised christian (or at least danny and justin).

They are Christians, see my comment on the Evil Bee page.

Well that sort of makes me sad, but they make excellent music so I'll keep loving them.

Well, I wouldn't totally define them as Christian. After all, there's a huge difference between writing songs about your devout Christian faith and songs that talk about the transition of your beliefs from one point in the religious spectrum to another.

Man, I totally love this album 'cos it partially describes some of my feelings: I grew up quite Christian too and later on, fell out 'cos I was so tired of the whole Christian religion.
