Hammer Horror Lyrics
We got found out now I can't see you anymore,
And I don't want to hear your voice again,
Now I don't know what I can do with all these words,
I've hidden all your photographs away,
I put my guard up when I hear of things you've done,
I'll never see your eyes again
Now all the things you've dropped before me,
Fall lifeless to the floor,
I can't be there to catch you anymore
In Shallow water you can still drown,
Well I've spent my life face down,
The situation hasn't changed,
There's still a sea between us,
And all our islands have collapsed,
Return the vessel to the shore,
Delayed reactions never got you anywhere,
They always hinder and deter
Now all the things you've dropped before me,
Fall lifeless to the floor,
I can't be there to catch you anymore,
And we both know it's time to let you go,
My memory is fading fast
I opened up my mouth to give you reasons,
But when I tried nothing came out,
And it turns out that you could here me breathing,
Forget the lessons you have learned
Now all the things you've dropped before me,
Fall lifeless to the floor,
I can't be there to catch you anymore,
And we both know it's time to let you go,
My memory is fading fast
And I don't want to hear your voice again,
Now I don't know what I can do with all these words,
I've hidden all your photographs away,
I put my guard up when I hear of things you've done,
I'll never see your eyes again
Fall lifeless to the floor,
I can't be there to catch you anymore
Well I've spent my life face down,
The situation hasn't changed,
There's still a sea between us,
And all our islands have collapsed,
Return the vessel to the shore,
Delayed reactions never got you anywhere,
They always hinder and deter
Fall lifeless to the floor,
I can't be there to catch you anymore,
And we both know it's time to let you go,
My memory is fading fast
But when I tried nothing came out,
And it turns out that you could here me breathing,
Forget the lessons you have learned
Fall lifeless to the floor,
I can't be there to catch you anymore,
And we both know it's time to let you go,
My memory is fading fast

the bitterness in this song is very apparent, something which really draws me.the lyrics are steeped in emotion and beautiful imagery as always with the Park. i feel as though this song is supposed to be about a secretive relationship. I think the bloke is finding it hard to lie and keep secrets and after being "found out" now realises they can't see each other anymore (something which is perhaps enforced by the woman, possibly suggesting there is a third person in the relationship i.e. another boyfriend). it is about coming to terms with the situation and realising that things cannot change.
"In Shallow water you still drown, Well I've spent my life face down, The situation hasn't changed, There's still a sea between us, And all our islands have collapsed"
and finally, with apparent success, battling to erase her from his life
"and we both know it's time to let you, my memory is fading fast"
