I portray this song to be about a "annie" who is naive about love, and a guy who takes advantage of her loving that is innocent.
Although I feel that there's something there that's too obscure for me to see.
I'd say this song is clearly about getting married for the sake of being married. "she's wanted this since she was a girl." I think this is about how people get caught up in the fantasy of love and "the one". If you have your wedding planned before you know who you plan to get married to, then you'll know what this song means. Annie regrets binding herself to this guy who's changed and how she's not who she wanted to be, with all her adventure. "But they never thought it's this way, they loved." They thought all they had to do was get married and it'd be great, but they fell out of love and now they're trapped because they can't admit that they made a mistake.
I think this song is about a girl who gets pregnant, so she marries the father, simply because he's the father. Both of them thought they would marry someone they loved, she imagined her perfect wedding since she was a girl, but it ddin't turn out like that.
