The Press War Lyrics

And it's down the stairs
Hair tossed and footing lost
There's just one thing he'll forget to mention
Just keep it close
I think we're safe within the crowd
From watchful eyes that aim
To keep me from my chances

If the truth is the virus infecting their highness
It's just loyalty protecting royalty
If the truth is the virus infecting their highness
It's just loyalty

And it's down the stairs
Hair tossed and footing lost
There's just one thing he'll forget to mention
They're taking sides as you find your ride
Dry your tears
At least you'll leave with your pride
But as the press war goes
It's always an old wound
Instead of the truth that ends up exposed

Just keep it close
I think we're safe within the crowd
From watchful eyes that aim to keep me from my chances

If the truth is the virus infecting their highness
It's just loyalty protecting royalty
If the truth is the virus infecting their highness
It's just loyalty

And it's down the stairs
Hair tossed and footing lost
There's just one thing he'll forget to mention
They're taking sides as you find your ride
Dry your tears
At least you'll leave with your pride
But as the press war goes
It's always an old wound
Instead of the truth that ends up exposed

You've got another thing coming
You've got another thing coming, ha ha
You've got another thing coming
You've got another thing coming, yeah (x2)

And it's down the stairs
Hair tossed and footing lost
There's just one thing he'll forget to mention

And it's down the stairs
Hair tossed and footing lost
There's just one thing he'll forget to mention
They're taking sides as you find your ride
Dry your tears
At least you'll leave with your pride
But as the press war goes
It's always an old wound
Instead of the truth that ends up exposed

Cover art for The Press War lyrics by You, Me, and Everyone We Know

I am not at all sure what this song is about, but yet again another great You, Me, And Everyone We Know song, with great lyrics.

Ben explained during a small concert that this song was about "an asshole from back home [a guy] who raped one of his good friends [a girl]" and about when he goes back "one of these days" he's going to kick his ass.

So I guess it makes sense if you think about it in that context? ie. The truth fighting to get out and strength in numbers

adding to Genevievee, the said girl was raped in a crowd of people... which explains "Just keep it close I think we're safe within the crowd From watchful eyes that aim to keep me from my chances"

I think this might be my favorite You, Me, and Everyone We Know song.

I never would've guessed that was what it was about.
