Glass Lyrics
Rolled around on kitchen floors.
Tied my tongue in pretty bows with yours.
And now we pass and just like glass
I see through you, you see through me like I'm not there.
You could make my head swerve.
Used to know my every curve.
And now we meet on a street,
And I am blind. I can not find the heart I gave to you.
Sometimes what we think we really want we don't.
Sometimes what we think we want we really don't.
Sometimes what we think we love we don't.
And I am blind. I can not find the heart I gave to you.
And when we meet on a street,
Then I am blind. I can not find the heart I gave to you.
Tied my tongue in pretty bows with yours.
And now we pass and just like glass
I see through you, you see through me like I'm not there.
Used to know my every curve.
And now we meet on a street,
And I am blind. I can not find the heart I gave to you.
Sometimes what we think we want we really don't.
Sometimes what we think we love we don't.
And when we meet on a street,
Then I am blind. I can not find the heart I gave to you.

What a beautiful song. About letting someone go and having to pretend it never happened, and not even being able to acknowledge each other anymore. It's so painful, to remember what you once had, and what it's like now "Tied my tongue in pretty bows with yours/And now we pass and just like glass/I see through you, you see through me like I'm not there." I just get it, I completely get it.
"Sometimes what we think we want we really don't/Sometimes what we think we love we don't." Oh it's so true.
I love the line "you see through me like I'm not there." It sort of works 2 ways. First he sees through her in the sense that he knows her so well that he understands her, so much so that he sees through her like glass. But then, after they lose whatever it is they had, he sees through her like she isn't there, as if she were invisible, a stranger, who no longer exists. Beautiful song XD
Basically, she doesn't love him anymore. Or, she can't find in him what she used to love about him. It's so sad. Really gets to me.
"I cannot find the heart I gave to you". I agree. This is such a perfect line. So simple, yet so heartbreaking.
This is a beautiful song from a much underappreciated artist. it's so moving the way she can convey so much emotion so simply, the way it should be really. I cannot find the heart i gave to you... such a beautiful way to say it.
I agree completely. I cannot get over how beautiful her lyrics are.

I think this song doesn't need much of an explenation. She went out with someone for some time and now when they see each other they're all stiff and pretending they don't know each other cause it's painful but she doesn't see the man she loved in him anymore ('i cannot find the heart i gave to you')
She reminds me of Emily Dickinson. She can write something so simply, yet portray some of the most emotion out of any modern day artists.
Falling out of love...
i can't find the heart i gave to you.
:] that's so cute, and so true and so sad. you know the relationship's changed. and, you realize you love who he used to be.
this song made me cry the first time i heard it.

replace the word 'kitchen' with 'basement' and this could be about me and my ex.
