Corner of Your Heart Lyrics
There's a corner of your heart for me.
There's a corner of your heart just for me.
I will pack my bags just to stay in the corner of your heart.
Just to stay in the corner of your heart.
There is room beneath your bed for me.
There is room beneath your bed just for me.
I will leave this town just to sleep underneath your bed.
Just to sleep underneath your bed.
There's one minute of your day.
There's one minute of your day.
I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day.
Just to occupy one minute of your day.
Just to sleep underneath your bed.
Just to stay in the corner of you heart.
There's a corner of your heart just for me.
I will pack my bags just to stay in the corner of your heart.
Just to stay in the corner of your heart.
There is room beneath your bed just for me.
I will leave this town just to sleep underneath your bed.
Just to sleep underneath your bed.
There's one minute of your day.
I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day.
Just to occupy one minute of your day.

The song is about a woman who is having an affair. Unfortunately though the man she's having an affair with doesn't love her but she is so infatuated that she doesn't care. She's willing to pack her bags, leave her man, and leave town just to be with him.
she has such a sweet voice. kind of reminds me of gregory and the hawk a bit? but theres always at least one comment on every song saying OMG. THIS SONG IS TOTALLY HOW I FEEL. and im sorry to say, but i will be this comment. theres a boy, who live far far away from me. and i just love him. nothing more to it. and i cant do anything about it, im dating another boy who i mean, i like. but no one will ever compare. no one.
It's too obvious. Interpreted literally, these lyrics make the singer seem weak and incredibly desperate. I don't think she she is. I don't think she means a word of it-- I think it's completely sarcastic.

What self-respecting person would accept so little (i.e., a small piece of your heart, a place underneath your bed but not in it, a single minute of your day)? I don't think humans are capable of enduring that kind of abuse. We may convince ourselves that we love someone, even if that person gave us essentially nothing in return, but that kind of...

I don't think humans are capable of enduring that kind of abuse. We may convince ourselves that we love someone, even if that person gave us essentially nothing in return, but that kind of one-sided love is just a fiction, hence the sarcasm.
monetmarie: That kind of thing is not a fiction. It happens. A self-respecting person would likely not accept so little, and the key there is that there are people who lack self-esteem and self-respect and get caught up in a situation like that. Humans are capable of enduring a lot more unnecessary hell than you think. I spent three whole years in a mentality eerily similar to the one in this song while getting almost nothing in return, thrilled by every small, tiny thing I got and never getting enough and still craving it.

The fact that fiction exists of...
The fact that fiction exists of this sort is exactly why it happens in reality, because fiction affects how people think and it affects how people view things. There is not enough media out there telling people that it isn't romantic to care about somebody and focus your life around them, and that it's not romantic to focus on somebody while getting nothing in return, and there's far too much media doing the opposite.
Whether or not the song is sarcastic, I can't say. The minor key of the song at the very least does not seem to paint it in a positive/romantic light as many things do. But to say that it has to be sarcastic because this can't really happen is absolutely not true.
beautiful. this girl will do anything just to be apart of this person's life, even if its a small part (such as a corner). She says "there is room beneath your bed" which indicates a desparity, and longing for love. Again, beautiful song.
I downloaded all songs from Grey's, I don't even watch the show, but they sure have some damn good music. And this is one of their best songs. Ingrid has such a beautiful voice and lyrics. She just tells things the way they are - she would give everything up in return for an insignificant gesture or a "corner in [his] heart". Unfortunately that's how many people feel when they're truly in love and it's often the reason for a great deal of pain when you find out the one you'd risk everything for wouldn't do it for you. Another great one, Ingrid.
Yeah sure it can be about an affair and romantic love and all that, but to me this song is all about my best friend, female. Nothing romantic or sexual, I just love her so so much. If we go without properly seeing or speaking for a few days, I start missing her but it's ok cause I can text her to meet me on our usual spot, and she'll come and we'll smoke cigarettes and talk about everything that happened. There's one minute of her day just for me. And "I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day" because she's more important than them.
So I don't find this song very sad or heartbreaking, cause I know that she also knows that there's room underneath my bed for her. Beautiful nonetheless.
heard it on Grey's Anatomy and loved it. So sweet, so unassuming. Love from a distance.
The first time I heard it I thought it was building up to something... Kinda sad that it didn't. Still a great song though!
just absolutely wonderful. i heard it on grey's too.
very touching. heard it on grey's also.
Ingrid Michaelson most definitely does not get enough credit for her career. She writes amazing lyrics. This song is lovely.
