December Baby Lyrics

The colored lights, they brightly shine.
Unlike your eyes avoiding mine.
The snow is folding sheet upon sheet.
Our hands not holding as we cross the street.

You have had your fill your fill of me.
You have had your fill your fill of me.

I wore the dress I thought you loved.
But my boots are filling with snow you shoved
Off of the car we climb into.
You finished first, I must catch up to you.

You have had your fill your fill of me.
You have had your fill your fill of me.

How can I catch up when I don't don't want to?
How can I catch up when I still want you?

You have had your fill your fill of me.
You have had your fill your fill of me.

December baby, you are my,
December baby, you are my,
December baby, you are my,
December baby, you are mine.

Such a beautiful song. I think it's about the fact the other person's moved on ("your eyes avoiding mine") and you're trying to catch up with them, but can't. It's such a horrible feeling when you know the other person doesn't feel the same way anymore and you want to make them, but can't. "You have had your fill, your fill of me" is about the fact he's done with her, he's got what he wanted from her and is now ready to go.

Also, I reckon the juxtaposition in the lines

"How can I catch up when I don't don't want to? How can I catch up when I still want you?"

Is that she doesn't want to catch up with him because she knows it's a bad idea because he doesn't want her anymore, yet at the same time she wants to catch up with him because she still feels the same way... But it's not a good idea.

This song truly expresses the aching that one feels when they no longer feel wanted by someone they love. Ingrid has an amazing way of showing how everyday events can effect someone. - "Our hands not holding as we cross the street."

How can I catch up when I don't want to How can I catch up when I still want you You have had your fill your fill of me.

-- So beautifully put.... SHE is incredible!!

"You finished first, I must catch up to you." "How can I catch up when I don't don't want to? How can I catch up when I still want you?"

She doesn't want to be over him even though he's over her. She misses what they had.

You can feel the girl's [or Ingrids?] pain in this song. Your heart aches for her.

i heard about ingrid i'd say about mid-may last yeat i was so excited to hear her on grey's i love ingrid and she so deserves to be heard speaking for hearing ingrid my thoughts on the song: i absolutely love the gut wrenching honesty that she coveys so easily it's almost like she can reach into your soul the most wonderful thing about this song, i think is when right before the last verse the song goes into complete chaos, then completely shuts down like the song is so heartbroken it can't bear to go on but then it realizes it has a purpose and it picks back up and finishes what it starts it's completely genius

Simply amazing!

This song explains one of my situations I'm dealing with now.

There was this guy that I [really] loved that had to move away, that I might never see again. But him moving away was actually better for him. When he lived where I do now, he was always sad and dealed with a bunch of crap.

one part i dont completely understand is the how do i catch up when i dont want to, how do i catch up when i still want you.

i mean why wouldnt she want to catch up to him? i thought she loved him. and is it more that he is maybe going down a road that she cant follow?

I think what she's trying to say in "how do i catch up when i don't want to? how do i catch up when i still want you?" is that he seems to be done with her and she sees that she should be at the same point, but doesn't want to because she still wants him. that's my interpretation of it

Lately, when I've been listening to this song, I've been imagining a May-December-type romance.

I love the arrangement and delivery of the song. So awing.
