This song was written for my friend, Maria McCoy. She was having trouble accepting herself. There is no lesbian connotation to this song, although some people think so. Deena was a producer for a radio station in Ft. Lauderdale who complained that there were no Deena songs, yet there were many "Veronica" and Maria songs on the chart.
