If You Find Her Lyrics
She won't falter easy, she'll be careful, she'll be coy
Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...
But still she paints her heart among the musings of a boy
Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...
If you find her, tell her that I love her
If she hears you, ask her heart to come
Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...
At the break of morning, the day awaits her when she sleeps
Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...
Deep inside her dreams is all the beauty that she keeps
Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...
If you find her, tell her that I love her
If she hears you, ask her heart to come
Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...
(repeat)

Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...

Mmmm-mmm-mmmmm...

I definitely get it that he wrote it about his wife, but here's what I think...
I think that the song is written like God is talking to Eric ABOUT his wife. Like...pointing out all the little things about her that He loves, so that Eric can see them and love them too. The chorus is basically God telling Eric to be a good husband by showing his wife how much God loves her, all the time. That's what I see, anyway.
My interpretation of the song was just the other way around that Eric was praying to God. So the conversation is towards God but it is about his wife. I know they got divorced and I have absolutely no idea why or what happened to them but the song may be talking about just because they aren't together anymore doesn't mean Eric doesn't love her. Maybe not in the same way but he still wants what's best for her and that chorus seems very literal to me. "God if you find her let her know I love her," "If she...

this song is from the view of God, singing to his daughter who perhaps has wandered away from his path for her. she may be occupied with worldly love, painting her heart among the musings of a boy. But God still seeks her out..."If you find her, tell her that I love her...ask her heart to come." beautiful.
it is without a doubt the view from God. "She won't falter easy, she'll be careful, she'll be coy. But still she paints her heart among the musings of a boy."
Honestly I think it could be about God's relationship with her daughter, or it could be about a really awesome Christian guy looking for an awesome girl who is so wrapped up in God that she's not one of the people who gives parts of herself away to people and he's saying she's out there somewhere and he's telling her that he's out there and he loves her even though he doesn't know her, but he knows she's out there.
Although it could very well be seen as a song from a man to a woman, and we all know a song can be interpreted ANY way the listener wants, I'm pretty sure that this song is technically from God to His daughter as previous users suggested.
Future of Forestry is a Christian band, so this meaning to the song makes perfect sense. In fact, I believe their own band name is based on a piece by C.S. Lewis, an astounding Christian author!
just because he wrote it for his wife doesn't mean it isn't already spiritual. the way i interpreted it is as God telling his believers to tell His other children that he loves them. to let God's love be evident. I can most definitely see where other people are coming from though, that was just what popped into my head.
"ask her heart to come" This line wouldn't fit in a love song from a human to a human. This is indefinitely God talking to a believer about a girl that He loves(because he loves all of us and has made us beautiful in different ways.) It's definitely what I got from the song... especially cause it's in a worship album for me.. it fit perfectly in.
Wow. He loves this girl.
this song is so beautiful it's ridiculous. why aren't there more guys like this in our world?
the acoustic is amazing along with the keyboard.
Are you sure? I don't see anything that indicates this is about God's love for His people. It seems like it's about romance between people?
