I think that the song talks about someone not wanting to hurt the one they love. He/she has no choice because the person has hurt them for the last time. They will not show mercy on them because it is for their own good. The person then hates the lover for rejecting them, but the lover doesn't hate them. They are meant for each other but they can't be together when there are problems like this in a relationship.

This is Within Temptations first single off of "The Heart of Everything." Its an awesome song!

This song reminds me of my relationship with my dad a bit. He was never there for me as a kid, and the part "i've been waiting for someone like you|But now you are slipping away", its just the way i feel. He's finally started coming back into my life which is what I wanted as a child, but he's slipping away and coming back when he wants to.

The Part "would you mind if I killed you?|Would you mind if I tried to?", that's how I feel right now. He really has become my worst enemy, and I do sometimes wish that I could just kill him because of all the hurt he's caused me.

"I wont fall" - I won't cry infront of you and let you see my pain "We'll be free when it's over" - I might be able to respect you as a father once you get over yourself

I've been thinking of a way to try and tell him, and now I think I've found the perfect song.

Ok, for everyone who is going nuts over the lyrics there are two versions of the song. The album version which has the lyrics "Would you mind if I hurt you/ understand that I need to/wish that I had other choices/then to hurt the one I love/ What have you done now!" And then there is the radio version which skips that entirely and goes into the second verse.

I believe that the song is about two people who love eachother but just aren't meant to be together. And just all together end up hating eachother, but still stays together because they can't seem to live without the other. I love you, but I hate you. I hate you then I love you kinda relationship.

This song reminds me of Romeo and Juliet's situation, specifically the lyrics:

"Why, Why does fate make us suffer? There's a curse between us Between me and you"

Their families have out a "curse" between them, as in their feud, so Romeo and Juliet aren't supposed to be together. Just what I thought.

If you lack maturity, are questions that haunt the mind of the sufferer; one of them is: What have you done?

Might I also mention the vocals of Keith Caputo make this song with the heavenly vocals of Sharon.
