Running Lyrics

it's safe to say i'm walking a lot
it's safe to say i'm thinner
it's safe to say if we don't find food soon
we won't make it through winter
i'm walking, i'm running, i'm picking up steam
i'm threatening to explode
i'm going to make it, we're going to make it
before the cows come home
before the cows come home
before the cows come home

it's safe to say i'm walking a lot
it's safe to say i'm thinner
it's safe to say if we don't find food soon
we won't make it through winter

To me this song is about relationship survival. the lines "it's safe to say i'm walking a lot/it's safe to say i'm thinner" could be a metaphor for all of the effort he has put into the relationship or friendship or SOMETHING, and how he's sort of exhausted.

Then the lines "it's safe to say if we don't find food soon/we won't make it through winter" could mean that if they don't sort of find a way to make things okay again or to get things to work, then the relationship/friendship/whatever is not going to last.

it's "before the cows come home" naturally

Not really sure what this song is about...but the lyrics are awesome. Could be about a guy trying to survive on very little in very bad weather...but that'd be a bit too literal for these guys. All i know is that I love the cow noise.

This expresses the whole symbolism of togetherness from the previous song, Rotten Hell, "Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, some may stumble, some may fall behind." Like a war. Or maybe genocide...

I think this song is about a man stranded far away from home, or safety. THE WARRIORS anyone? And this song symbolizes how determined the guy is to get home.

Non the less a GREAT song.

Yeah this is a pretty tough song to find out the meaning, but its still awesome, but it could be about someone on the run, and the cows could be what the person is running away from.

I think some people mystify artists a bit much, to me, there is nothing to obscure about this song. "its safe to say that im walking a lot" is the poets way of saying he's trying, he's looking for his treasure, "its safe to say im thinner" is his way of saying look, ive made my sacrifices on this search,

"it's safe to say if we don't find food soon we won't make it through winter"

if he doesnt find something fulfilling soon, he doesnt know how he can go on, he needs his food, of the spirit

c'mon, he's walking hjes running hes picking up steam, he knows hes good at what he does, but that doesnt seal the deal, hes threatening to explode, make an impact, regardless of effect,

hes going to make it hes going to make it

i know they had already produces 2 albums before this, but thats not to say he wasnt still searching for something, or that maybe they were older thoughts he was just never able to articulate to a song like here, it seems oyu would have to be very selective to be so damn good

i think the song is most apparant in its first two lines, its quite insightful

its safe to say im walking a lot its safe to say im thinner

sure, could be a soldier, but it sounds more like an unfulfilled searching to me

This song is about thru hiking...like the PCT something with some distance. For those of you who don't know what thru hiking is. Imagine walking twenty miles a day in the wilderness to sleep in a tent on the side of a mountain... now imagine doing that for 6 months straight. Id imagine you would be thinner and concerned with finding food soon.
