Lightspeed Lyrics
I play centerfield for the home team
You might not see me from the nosebleeds
I’ll stand up on top of the dugout
And shout out and wave my arms and hold my tongue
‘Cause it’s not me
I wondered how fast is light speed
Would life itself stay or follow me?
And coach look at me now
Look at me now
And team look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now
Foul ball deep in centerfield
Ninth inning, two outs
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now
I wondered how fast is light speed
Would life itself stay or follow me?
If I caught that one
Would it be the same?
It’s a good thing this is just a game
You might not see me from the nosebleeds
I’ll stand up on top of the dugout
And shout out and wave my arms and hold my tongue
‘Cause it’s not me
Would life itself stay or follow me?
Look at me now
And team look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now
Ninth inning, two outs
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now
Would life itself stay or follow me?
If I caught that one
Would it be the same?
It’s a good thing this is just a game

Does anyone else get the impression that this song is not about overcoming obstacles but rather attempting to, and failing?
"If I caught that one Would it be the same? It’s a good thing this is just a game"
Sounds like he didn't catch the ball, but is okay with it because after all, baseball is just a game.
i think this all relates to life. matt puts the game baseball as a metaphore to life a "succeding" or "failing" at life. by catching the ball he could mean like making good grades and going to college or making a wrong desicion in life. and now he wounders if that really affected him.
"I wonder how fast is light speed. Would life it's self stay or follow me?"
the theory of relativity states that it is impossible for matter to move at or above the speed of light, however that is based on the assumption that an object moving at the speed of light will appear to move at the speed of light for any reference frame, even one moving at near the speed of light, giving rise to the formula (Dt=Dt'/sqroot) If one ignores the rule that division by 0 is impossible for this case, it would appear that going exactly the speed of light would be time travel forward, and greater that the speed of light would be time travel backward. We already know that at near the speed of light time for the moving object slows down compared to a stationary object, and were one to bypass the speed of light and go straight to greater than c, time travel could be achieved. But it is impossible until we are able to harness the full power of the fourth element (time). To answer your question, yes you would remain living through the experience, as all bodily functions would remain stable unless acted upon by the extreme forces exerted on it.
I love singing along to this song.
how does one hit a foul ball to center field? i know nothing about baseball and i know that's impossible! anyways, amazing song and amazing band. i'm thinking this song may be about overcoming whatever obstacles from the past and following your dream and finally making it and just telling everyone from the past that you proved them wrong.
it has nothing to do with baseball I really think about how long he pauses in between home and team then nose and bleeds. Maybe centerfield just means being in the middle of a dysfunctional family

I Love this song especially when im riding my car ...aahh
First, seriously foul ball to centerfield?
Second, I agree with brandonb, and to support this statement "I'll stand up on top of the dugout And shout out and wave my arms and hold my tongue 'Cause it's not me"
Refers to the tradition of a celebrating player taking a bow from atop his dugouts, but its not him who is doing it, maybe?
