maybe this song is about some guy who was with a girl who's "lost and broken" and how he's sick of her hurting him (i.e. cheating: "Now it's a shame you've lost your touch and you can't control your lust"), and how he's finnaly happy to be done with her.

lol, i bought this cd because of this song, i was thinkin they were gonna be as good as atreyu lyrically ... i was wayyyyyyy wrong. I'm sorry to everyone who likes this band, but honestly ... theeeee worst $15 i've ever wasted on a cd.
I do like this song, but as for the whole cd together, nothing but cliche verses; they didnt even write all of their songs, they co-wrote a few while another guy co-wrote it too which tells me that they're pathetic

The meaning is really obvious... He was in love with a girl who was 'lost and broken' and she ended up cheating one him ('Now it's a shame you've lost your touch and you can't control your lust.') He wanted to forgive her ('I was only a heartbeat away from forgiving you') but she cheated on him again or was unrepentant and so he decided to 'let the past be' because it was obviously over with this girl. At least thats what it sounds like to me...
ok. so yes. the basic meaning of this song is that he is leaving a girl who has broken his heart by cheating on him. but there's so much more to it, cuz this song is word for word what i felt after my abusive exbf. so let's break this down a bit.
