I'll Wait For You Lyrics

The snow in Montana was three feet high
The lady at the counter said: There ain't no flights
And so he called her on the telephone
He said: I'll rent a car and I'll drive home

And she said: I'll wait for you
Like I did last year
At Christmas time with your family here
And your truck broke down out in San Antone
And the gifts stayed wrapped until you got home
Oh, this ain't nothin' new
Sweetheart, I'll wait for you

Now he's on his cell phone in a Coupe Deville
Talkin' to the one he loves and always will
His heart is breakin' 'cause she's there alone
Her heart is achin' 'cause she wants him home
She says: I'll wait for you like in '68
When our child was due, but I said, he'll have to wait
Until his dad gets here and stands by my side
Remember, Dear, our son's first cry
Oh, this ain't nothin' new
Sweetheart, I'll wait for you

He didn't stop all day to eat a bite
And he finally got there around midnight
The doctor said, she's in a better place
She said to give you this note just in case

And it said, I'll wait for you at Heaven's gate
Oh, I don't care how long it takes
And I'll tell Saint Pete I can't come in
Without my love and my best friend
Oh, this ain't nothin' new
Sweetheart, I'll wait for you
P.S. I love you, too
Sweetheart, I'll wait for you

Beautiful Song and Joe Nichols has the perfect voice for it. One of the best singers in country music today.

I just heard this song on the radio and I love it! It's so sweet. At first I thought it sounded dumb, but then I heard the ending. I was like, Awww, this is gonna make me cry. This is pretty obvious but I'll say it anyway, it's pretty much about a woman that would do anything for her husband and loves him more than anything. This is an amazing song!

this is what this song means to me, the first verse is about a sick woman and her husband is away on a trip somewhere, so she basicly says it's ok, i can hold on a little longer the second verse is when the woman is getting sicker so they talk about the good times they had a long time ago the third verse is about when the man gets to the hospital but he arrives just a little too late to see her before she dies, but she wrote a note saying that she loved him so much that she would wait outside of heaven for him so they could be together forever

Great song. When the song started, I got the impression that he was away on a business trip or something. In the first verse he is stuck at the airport due to snow, and can't make it home, so she waits for him. The second verse, he is still on his way home driving and she continues to wait for him while he gets closer. Until in the third verse where we find out that he is actually on his way to the hospital to see her. She is sick and he gets to the hospital too late. She leaves a note saying she will wait for him at the Heavens gate.

I dunno about anyone else, it just reminds me of Vietnam when they're talking about being apart in '68. Just reminds me of the draft and tet offensive where they stepped it up to its peak in the war. My favorite part of the song. It's too real.

I think this song is about the wife who loves her husband very much but doesn't understand that he loves her equally. The line "This Ain't nothing new" is repetitive, which probably means that the wife is complaining that her husband doesn't care enough about her and the family, and always makes them wait. She says the line again and again to make her husband feel guilty for not being there when she needs him. There is no doubt that the wife truly loves her husband (otherwise she wouldn't wait so often), but deep in her heart, perhaps she is tired of waiting - but she doesn't know it and that's why she keeps waiting. The husband also loves the wife very much, and he is not happy that she's having to wait. That's why "His heart is breakin' 'cause she's there alone" and "He didn't stop all day too eat a bite".
