Thriller Lyrics
[Jay-z Intro]
Yeah, what you critics said would never happen
We dedicate this album to anybody
People who said
We couldn't make it
To the fans that held us down
Till anybody came around
Welcome... It's here
Last summer we took threes across the board
But by fall we were a cover story
"Now in stores"
Make us poster boys for your scene
But we are not making an accepting speech
I have found the safest place to keep all our old mistakes
Every dot com's refreshing for a journal update
So long live the car-crash heart
Cry on the couch all the poets come to life
Fix me in 45
So long live the car-crash heart
Cry on the couch all the poets come to life
Fix me in 45
I can take your problems away
With a nod and a wave
Of my hand
'Cause that's just the kind of boy that I am
The only thing I've haven't done yet is die
And it's me and my plus one at the afterlife
Crowds are won and lost and won again
But our hearts beat for the diehards
So long live the car-crash heart
Cry on the couch all the poets come to life
Fix me in 45
So long live the car-crash heart
Cry on the couch all the poets come to life
Fix me in 45
Long live the car-crash heart
So long live the car-crash heart
So long live the car-crash heart
Cry on the couch alll the poets come to life
Fix me in 45

FIX me in 45.
i think it has a double meaning..
the first one is that a therapy session last 45 minutes, but then the cd is 45 minutes long so basically this cd is our therapy session and at the end were going to be fix....
I didn't read every comment, but a 45 is a common vinyl record RPM speed. Many records are called 45s.
Thriller, by Michael Jackson, is a famous and valuable 45 RPM record.
This song makes references to fame and the pressures of it. Michael Jackson's life was plagued by the spotlight.
Just throwing that out there.
the intro is so cool because it rlly tells us fall out boy werent expecting to be huge in music and they thought they wouldnt be famous. or it may be the hate they got, with people saying theyre trash, the same with panic at the disco
I agree with that. But, my favorite part of this song is the really heavy sounding parts they put at the beginning and the end, it sort of reminds me of their older material just with a twist
I also agree, I miss the offbeat sounds of Take This to Your Grave... I'm also a huge metal fan as well so I miss Pete's few, infrequent screams as well. But these 'retro' songs are just the ones I love to listen to the most. ^,..,^

Also, another lyric site said "Lie on the couch till the poets come to life".
And that kinda makes sense as it seems that in this day and age, anyone artistic is "troubled" and goes to threapy. So they are laying on the couch till they get inspired.
the fix me in 45 is definatly a reference to a therapy session cause thats how long they uniformly run for ( and because pete said so in rolling stone) and its definatly 'lie on the couch till the poets come to life' because alot of petes lyrics are derived from what he has to talk about in therapy
the 'For we are not making our accepting speech' line is from when they were up for an award for best artist, not sure what awards though, mtv? but anyway, they were so confident that they had their speech prepared and written out, but they didnt win.
I think "passport" makes more sense, and it sounds like that's what he says (I assume this is from the AOL Sessions).
Anyway, basic answer is that it seems to be about their rise to fame.
It's about their rise to fame, obvi.
This song has a lot of personal meaning to me though.
tight song, well the choras means, basicallly hes in therapy, and he says make my problems go away in this session basically, thats all i know
This is the Most diverse song I've heard from them yet, its such a great mixture of different things! From what i hear its about a therapy session. He says long live the car-crashed heart because it helps them write great. I'm not sure what "we took threes across the park" means?
i think we took threes across the park means they had released 3 albums before infinity on high. and i think it's not across the park, but board.

Pretty sure 3's across the board is a reference to 3 out of 5 possible stars when critics rate albums. Consider Jay Z's intro as well as the very next line that states, "but by fall we were a cover story"...which is basically is saying that at first you (media/critics) cast us aside but now all you want is to cash in on our new-found popularity
