Three Faint Calls Lyrics
No girl by my side
No girl for me to hold
No girl in my arms
No girl by my side
And as the night falls, I hear three faint calls
No name that I made
No name of my own
No name to myself
No girl wants my name
And as the night falls, I hear three faint calls
One begs me to return
The second pleads for me to stay
The third beckons me forever on
No use staying here
No use even trying
No use hanging ‘round
No use anymore
And as the night falls, I hear three faint calls
No girl for me to hold
No girl in my arms
No girl by my side
No name of my own
No name to myself
No girl wants my name
The second pleads for me to stay
The third beckons me forever on
No use even trying
No use hanging ‘round
No use anymore

I love this song - it's been stuck in my head for the past couple of days. My thoughts on the song... I think he's saying he's alone - no girl by his side and whatnots in the first verse - in the second he's saying he has no kids - her hasn't made a name for himself - no girl wants to marry him and take his name - then in the third he explains the faint calls he hears - maybe of lovers past? Asking him to come back, stay where he is, and one asking to marry him - but he realizes he doesn't want to be with any of them and it's best to maybe just give up.
I dunno. That's what I got from it. It's great. I love them... Especially LJ.
