Boyfriend, boyfriend, where are you?
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend
Boyfriend, boyfriend, where are you?
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend

Tell me how to grow into what you know
Skip past all the quiet months of shyness that I hold
Formalities be stashed
I've no use for that
Seems that age has snuck up to attack
It's the light that missed me
It's those man-sized titties
Someone should have told the kids the truth about what's pretty
You notice no eyes staring
Suddenly you're caring
And willing to take plunges if they were daring

Soon it's gonna come around
It's gonna sing the song you never wrote
It will astound

Boyfriend, boyfriend, where are you?
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend
Boyfriend, boyfriend, where are you?
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend

How much time must pass
How long I can last
What's the chance he's out there you're crossing different paths
Maybe I was blinking
My island's slowly sinking
I need a strong arm to do the rescuing
Now I will accost all the time lost
Grab it by the neck and make it cough up what I want
There's no getting back years of singles past
What would be the point in lamenting that

Soon it's gonna come around
It's gonna sing the song you never wrote
It will astound

Boyfriend, boyfriend, where are you?
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend
Boyfriend, boyfriend, where are you?
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend
I ain't got no money and I ain't got no boyfriend
I ain't got no money but I've got to get my boyfriend back

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
