Q&A
Pretend Lyrics
If I ask you a question
Are you going to lie to me?
Is that your question?
Because that one is easy
It's gripping the city and hitting the town and
No one on earth is doing this now
If you can pretend and I can
Pretend pretending won't end
and then and well then...
If you take the chances
I'll take the bows
Saying 'no one on earth is doing this now'
But if I ask you a question are you going to lie to me?
Is that your question?
Because that one is easy
If you don't pretend
And I don't pretend
Pretending might end
But pretend can pretend to end
You can't pretend
Yes I can, Yes I can, Yes I can
You can't pretend
Yes I can, Yes I can, Yes I can
Are you going to lie to me?
Is that your question?
Because that one is easy
No one on earth is doing this now
If you can pretend and I can
Pretend pretending won't end
and then and well then...
I'll take the bows
Saying 'no one on earth is doing this now'
But if I ask you a question are you going to lie to me?
Is that your question?
Because that one is easy
And I don't pretend
Pretending might end
But pretend can pretend to end
Yes I can, Yes I can, Yes I can
You can't pretend
Yes I can, Yes I can, Yes I can

Obvious link to "The Kids Don't Get It" here as the 2 songs share some of the same lyrics. This song is about being untruthful I think, pretending. But about what??...that's the question. Probably doesn't matter..but I think it is about the writing of the album "World Container" in general. He is pretending to agree with Bob Ross telling him "no one on earth is doing this, (making this type of music) now" and "it's gripping the city and hitting the town" when it really isn't. Maybe not, but that's how I hear it.
