This song to me is about a girl who was deeply in love with a guy, and he just up and left her. "wondering what you meant by goodbye." Then later she must see him again and not know how to react, and neither does he apparently. "how long has it been since you came looking and saw me as i really am?" As the song goes on it expresses how she feels about being alone, and she wonders what he's doing now. "But somehow you're already on your own."

This song is beautiful and hold a lot of emotion. From my persepective at least.
