You Don't Have To Cry Lyrics
In the mornin' when you rise
Do you think of me, and how you left me cryin'?
Are you thinkin' of telephones, and managers,
And where you got to be at noon?
You are living a reality I left years ago
It quite nearly killed me.
In the long run it will make you cry.
Make you crazy and old before your time.
And the difference between me and you.
I won't argue right or wrong,
But I have time to cry, my baby
You don't have to cry,
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry
In the mornin' when you rise
Do you think of me, and how you left me cryin'?
Are you thinkin' of telephones, and managers,
And where you got to be at noon?
You are living a reality I left years ago
It quite nearly killed me.
In the long run it will make you cry.
Make you crazy and old before your time.
And the difference between me and you.
I won't argue right or wrong,
But I have time to cry, my baby
You don't have to cry,
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry

First of all, I can't believe no one has written anything on this song!
This song reminds me of my dad. He is always so wrapped up in work that sometimes it seems like it is killing him. I think this song is trying to tell you to let loose and take a break from everything that keeps you connected to the stress like telephones, managers, and appointments.
My fav. part is where it says "and the difference between me and you..." because my mom is always correcting me saying "YOU AND ME!" haha
you're mom is wrong, you're supposed to say 'you and i' anyway.
you're mom is wrong, you're supposed to say 'you and i' anyway.
isn't this song about joni mitchell? her and stephen stills were together for a while back then weren't they?
questions...
maybe i am wrong but i think in this song being able to cry is something good... with which i fully agree. beautiful song really.
While both Crosby and Nash went out with Joni Mitchell, Stills went out with Judy Collins (aka the Judy in Suite Judy Blue Eyes). Given that this song is about a very busy performing artist and given that they were going out/breaking up at the time this record was made, the song is probably about her.
