I like the bullet in the water, yeah
I like the morning after pill, hello
Breath in
Lose control

I wanna fuck ya in fire, yeah
I wanna hold ya till you breath no more
Can't hide, oh

[Chorus]
Meet me in the clouds
Let me work it out
Don't you take it personal, personal
Don't you like the control? Oh
Don't you like the control? Oh

Let's tell the people what we have to say
Let's tell the people till they can't hear no more
Can't cry
More and more

We never tried to be the leading voice
We couldn't help it 'cause you gave us no choice
Can't fight, oh

[Chorus]

It think it is more about abortion as a form of birth control. On the one hand - morning after pill, bullet in the water (unprotected sex), don't you like control, can't hide (as in, can't hide the belly) and you gave us no choice all seem to suggest that this dude just wants to be free to have unprotected sex and worry about the consequences later. Politically, that even seems to be his philosophy when he goes on about voice and telling the people. On the other hand, I can't get away from the idea that he wants to have so much sex it kills both of them and "in the clouds" they'll still keep at it. Either way, it's deeply disturbed, which is why I like it so much. Anyone else?

Yup, just watched the video. It's definitely about having unprotected sex and not worrying about it. The video starts out with a shaking dinning room with the traditional leave it to beaver family while someone's definitely gettin it on hardcore upstairs. There's all these spilt red wine images and even an identical twin shot (the worst thing one would imagine in an unwanted pregnancy). But the bands message becomes loud and clear, blowing a hole in the dinning room and the members leave the black/white world of simple right and wrong to enter the full-color world of having sex with hundreds of beautiful girls. Don't take it personal and in the clouds I think refer to indiscriminate sex and taking a wider view of sex as a human need rather than a deeply personal experience. Just have sex and let the morning after pill wash your troubles away.

I get the impression that the songwriter is telling the deep, dark thoughts of an incel, from a tongue-in-cheek perspective, poking fun at them.

Woo first comment, i'm surprised this song is the best of them all! I don't know quite what it's about but at a guess i'd say sex.

    Damn, I love this band!!

Yep, it's about sex, reminds me of a one night stand or something, like that's all it is "don't you take it personal" so maybe he just wants to have sex with her? And the morning after pill, yeah that prevents pregnancy

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
