dont start insulting his intellegence! the belly of the shark is quite obviously literal, if you analyse the lyrics carefully you can see that it is about frank carter being stuck inside teh belly of theshark. the song could be based on a traumatic experience he had with sharks as a child or more simply could be inspired by jaws

Okay, enough blathery, its like this. This song is all but a metaphor. It's all about mental self imprisonment, and how it affects a person's life. But it's a metaphor; not meant to be used as a teaching tool or advisory purposes or anything like that. In the end where it says 'I'm gonna show you exactly what you mean to me' is where the perspective changes. He becomes the prison and plans on imprisoning everyone else (every single last person), and that is what he means by 'I'm gonna eat every man that you see!' Remember: It's a METAPHOR! Remember that, and ROCK ON! (I still cant beat this song on expert)

Now, bear with me on this, people... I know this is most likely just about a guy getting eaten by an aquatic beast, but this could also have a double meaning. I think this song could also have something to do with large businesses taking over small ones.

This unfortunate businessman was either run out of business or bought up by a larger corporate scum. Or, he was eaten by a shark.

He might be angry that he was put out so easily, though he worked very hard to get where he was.

This is a big one. This can mean that the larger businesses know if you are struggling and they can try to buy your business so that you don't have to worry about it.

"Now all I have to do, Is swim after you... convince you... to climb in, too."

The larger business goes and convinces the smaller ones to sell their business.

"I'm gonna show you exactly what you mean to me I'm gonna eat every man that you see"

This can mean that the large corporations act like their goal is to help the smaller ones by buying their business and relieving them of it, but they really don't care. In fact, the last line "I'm gonna eat every man that you see" could possibly indicate that he's going to buy up even more businesses to expand his profits.

Well, that's all. To review: I KNOW THAT THIS SONG PROBABLY JUST MEANS THAT A GUY WAS EATEN BY A SHARK. I was just saying that it could fit for more than one thing.
