I Wish Lyrics
oh oh oh ooooooooh! x4
Well I, sit alone almost every night
I watch those trains roll by, roll by out of sight
No, it's not the same old story, it's new to me I'd say so
It's the not only way.
There's work in town there aint nothin' free
Nothing left in this place for, the likes of me
Well, I wish to God, I just wish that I had
I've got no money in my pockets you see
OH! Gimme no, gimme no, gimme no, gimme no why?
No money in my pockets you see
Gimme no, gimme no, gimme no, gimme no
No, it's not the same old story, it's new to me I'd say so
It's the not only way.
I've been pipin' almost every night
Watch my dreams float by, out of sight
Well, I wish to God that I just been stabbed, oh I
oh oh oh ooooooooh! x4
I've got no money in my pockets you see
OH! Gimme no, gimme no, gimme no, gimme no why?

Gimme no, gimme no, gimme no, gimme no why?

i think this is actually showing how unromantic crack is by saying he is just sitting there while his dreams float away he feels so bad he consider suicide again pete is showing us the harsh reality of addiction; this is why it annoys me when some one says he is influencing the youth to do it
agreed..actually most of his songs shows the hell of the drug addiction, like delivery and this one for a exemple.

I love this song, i think it's really clever, the way the music is so happy and uplifting, whereas the lyrics, in parts are sad and deep, theres a lot of sadness in this song, "I wish to god that I just been stabbed" but its still a brilliant song!
brilliant. liking the reggae sound, appears very upbeat but the lyrics tell a very different story
i thought it was saying 'Gimme no gimme no gimme no work' because this song is just about being skint and 'piping' away whilst your dreams float away with the sound. it took me a while to get into it but i really like this song, pete described it as one of the strongest songs he ever co-written which is saying something. his guitarist mik whitnall wrote the music pete said this song was 'his baby' and pete wrote the lyrics. good song to sing when ur feeling the effects of having no money lol.
"I'm piping almost every night I watch my dreams float by, out of sight"
You sure do, Peter.
oi! isn't there a little "alright george deaver" after "stabbed"? i sure can hear it but have no idea of who george is
probably the only babyshambles song i've managed to like. so catchy.
"I'm piping almost every night I watch my dreams float by, out of sight"
makes crack sound romantic.
wow, so few comments? i really like this song! it's fun to play, sing and just listen to, like, whenever. about being poor. sedative: you are right, he does say "alright george deaver". no idea who that is, pete probably just made him up...
George deaver was his first band manager who he fell out with quite badly, george deaver once said he could have stabbed him

this song vaguely reminds me of Can't Stand Me Now, in that it sounds upbeat, but when you look at the lyrics and figure out the actual meaning of the song, it's a tragedy.
Yeah, because Can't Stand Me Now was really hard to figure out. If only it had been called something that gave away it's sadder purpose. Maybe something like Can't Stand Me Now, which is what it was fucking called. Seriously, did anyone actually think that one was supposed to be a happy song just because it sounded upbeat? Or are you just really, really stupid?
