Forever and Never Lyrics
I do not threat, I do not warn
I only speak of what I'll mourn
Every time you turn and run
You blindly aim your loaded gun
Ironic place for pride to be
You are your own worst enemy
Every dream chased in haste
Another day gone to waste
Time burns short
Patience thins
Keep this up
No one wins
Will this end?
It just might
So hold me close
Hold me tight
Close your eyes and open wide
Meet me on the other side
You're not the kind you find every day
But I would leave you anyway
I do not threat, I do not warn
I only speak of what I'll mourn
Faith alone is not a plan
Save us now, I know you can
Time burns short
Patience thins
Keep this up
No one wins
Will this end?
It just might
So hold me close
Hold me tight
Close your eyes and open wide
Meet me on the other side
You're not the kind you find every day
But I would leave you anyway
We dance an endless dance
How long must this continue?
We could go separate ways
But they would just be circles
These sunsets seem the same
Fools weep but I know better
I will remember them
I will remember yesterday
I only speak of what I'll mourn
Every time you turn and run
You blindly aim your loaded gun
You are your own worst enemy
Every dream chased in haste
Another day gone to waste
Patience thins
Keep this up
No one wins
It just might
So hold me close
Hold me tight
Meet me on the other side
But I would leave you anyway
I only speak of what I'll mourn
Faith alone is not a plan
Save us now, I know you can
Patience thins
Keep this up
No one wins
It just might
So hold me close
Hold me tight
Meet me on the other side
But I would leave you anyway
How long must this continue?
We could go separate ways
But they would just be circles
Fools weep but I know better
I will remember them
I will remember yesterday

The Sleeper Has Awakened

I think this song was sculpted from the viewpoint of a person in a dying relationship that neither person is willing to fully end. The target of the lyrics is clearly too proud to admit any fault in the failures of the relationship and simply lives their life pursuing whatever pleases them at the particular moment, without regard for whether their actions are hurting the song's protagonist. As such, this protagonist will eventually put an end to the source of this displeasure, realizing that eventually the two parties will eventually be together again in a similarly painful situation.

Good call, BigCheese. I think you've nailed it.
