Mary Jane Shoes Lyrics
When I wear - my mary jane's shoes
I can escape - from a blues
The whole world seems a little bit brighter, brighter
My heavy steps get a little bit louder, louder
Wooh my mary jane's [4x]
When I wear - my mary jane's shoes
Just like a child - under bruise
My heart and my soul - they feel like I'm seven
But from my head to my toels
It's like I'm in heaven, heaven
Wooh my mary jane's [4x]
When I wear mary jane's shoes
I enjoy to spin - the ones and toes
Music has another dimension
And I can dance with another perception
Wooh my mary jane's [4x]
I can escape - from a blues
The whole world seems a little bit brighter, brighter
My heavy steps get a little bit louder, louder
Just like a child - under bruise
My heart and my soul - they feel like I'm seven
But from my head to my toels
It's like I'm in heaven, heaven
I enjoy to spin - the ones and toes
Music has another dimension
And I can dance with another perception

The lyrics aren't accurate. "My heavy steps get a little bit louder"???? Maybe look at the lyric sheet and see that "lighter" ryhmes with "brighter in the line before. Whoever transcribed these lyrics was perhaps smoking something.
The song is metaphorical, not literal. A song is a poem that's sung. Seeing things brighter does not mean she actually sees things brighter. It is a poetic comparison. Mary Janes are traditioanlly worn by children, not adults. They were made for adults in sexier styles to combine sexiness with a childlike presence of mind.
Wearing the simple buckle shoes takes her back to a simpler, non-show biz time. Illustrated by the lyrics: "Just like a child...." "...just like I'm seven."
If we were to belive the literal/marijuana interpretation then taking the song as a whole we'd have to belive that she feels just like all the multitude of 7 year olds getting high on pot. Which of course happens SO OFTEN.... (snicker)......
It's shoes. It's how a simple piece of clothing changes her whole attitude. The Mary Jane brand has been around for 90 years. Tradition. Childhood. Shoes.
Or, it could be about how she feels in the arms of her bisexual lover who is named Mary Jane. I wonder why no one has brought that up? Makes about as much sense as pot.
Yeah, I think your right about that one, despite the weed.
Yeah, I think your right about that one, despite the weed.
i have to wonder. is she talking about shoes.. or weed?????????????? weed references are made with the whole "brighter, louder another dimension, another perception" but then idk. and some of those lyrics are very wrong.. like i believe "seven" is supposed to be "soaring"
im going to assume, scandalouss, that if the title is 'mary jane SHOES' and she refers to shoes OFTEN in the song, that its shoes. and not marijuana.
This song is amazing and i'm crazy about it! But y'all gotta know youngstaz that "Mary Jane" is currently the name that's given to marijuana, so YES Fergie is talking about drugs here! And not to offence anyone she uses her "shoes"...
HELL YEAH MY GIRL FERGIE GETS HIGH
she waaas addicted to meth, guys.
oh yeah, these are wrong and you're missing a big part of the song.
these lyrics don't have the ending where she changes from like a reggae feel to rock. i really like this song though. and it's underoos not under bruise.
this song sounds like No Woman No Cry.. anyone else think the same? -hayles-
Tres Interesting.. I'm not a fan of Fergie, but I had to check out the song because she collaborated with Rita Marley, Bob Marley's wife. I have a strong feeling that she is talking about marijuana..however, I doubt we'll ever be able to confirm this.
Not too bad of a song though, up until it cuts into that nonsense boucing B.S.
I love this song
