You Love Me Lyrics
Under the mother eyes of the Mexican sky
She was happy you had chosen her son
And it was fate laid in stone
Sacred heart, sacred ground
Her two children and we moved as one
And you said you loved me
You said you loved me
Now there’s something missing when
You’re kissing me
It’s subtle yet it’s gone
And then I’m suspicious
And then it gets vicious
And then it’s a hole right through the heart
And you said you loved me
I thought you loved me
Now there is an ocean of time
Between your life and mine
You look happy
And you're married I bet
And oh my Lord how you’ve grown
To find me still alone
I am humble
I’m still trying to forget
When you said you loved me
I thought you loved me
She was happy you had chosen her son
And it was fate laid in stone
Sacred heart, sacred ground
Her two children and we moved as one
You said you loved me
You’re kissing me
It’s subtle yet it’s gone
And then I’m suspicious
And then it gets vicious
And then it’s a hole right through the heart
I thought you loved me
Between your life and mine
You look happy
And you're married I bet
And oh my Lord how you’ve grown
To find me still alone
I am humble
I’m still trying to forget
I thought you loved me

Typical love song about being broken hearted and lied to. Beautiful vocals. It's tragically beautiful to see how the song begins with such promising lyrics, only to conclude with "I thought you loved me."
I think the line "And you're married again" should be "And you're married I bet"
Beautiful song...
I love how "And you said you loved me...You said you loved me" changes to "When you said you loved me... I thought you loved me"
Beautiful song. It expresses heartbreak in such a simple and elegant manner.
It starts off sounding so happy, but then quickly becomes overwhelmingly intensely sad when the lyrics change in the second verse and chorus - it is particularly poignant when it reaches "I thought you loved me".
The last verse finishing with "I'm still trying to forget" leading in to the final chorus is also particularly moving I think.
This is a beautifully sad song. I'v gone through what this song is about, a long time ago. And hearing this song sent me flying right back to that heart ache...WOW!!
this song is gorgeous. love it love it loveee ittt...
I love this song (no really, I mean it!) and I just heard it in concert. Said concert convinced me the lyrics are "and had chosen the sun," which I thought was correct when I first heard it. However, Nick Urata mixed up the "mothering eyes/mexican skies" bit. I still think it's had chosen.
Also, the concert was awesome. Check out Yard Dogs Road Show!
I've heard this song for the first time today and listened to it at least 10 times in a row now. It's fantastic. The meaning is clear, and portrayed beautifully.
