Gone Lyrics

Feeling like this could only mean
I'm sinking.
Feeling like this could only mean
I'm sinking.
Well, I'm sinking.
Pull me up.

Every time I see your clothes scattered out on the floor,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Every time I see the light not burning on the porch,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone,
But you are.
You are.

Feeling overwhelmed, I take a dive
To a once overfilled but now empty place to hide.
The day you turned on me is the day I died,
And I've forgotten what it's like,
And how it feels to be alive.

Every time I see your clothes scattered out on the floor,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Every time I see the light not burning on the porch,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.

Reach up to the sky.
When nothing seems to go right,
When nothing seems to go right for me.

Every time I see your clothes scattered out on the floor.
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Everytime I see the light not burning on the porch,
I say I thought you would be home.
You never would be gone.
I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone,
But you are.

This song couldn't be more blunt on what it's about. Powerful delivery by Chris Daughtry. One of my favorite tracks.

i can't BELIEVE no one has commented this song!! Although the meaning is clear, I absolutely love all of it--Chris' voice, the guitar. Definitely one of my favorites "Reach up to the sky. When nothing seems to go right, When nothing seems to go right for me." thats me right now

i think that this song is abouta guy whose wife left him. He then goes to a church, or a "once overfilled but now empty place to hide". And prays.

this song is definitely about a guy who's wife has just left him and all the memories surrounding him are pulling him down. I can see the "once overfilled but now empty place," being a church because he later says he reaches up to the sky which could mean he's raising his hands in the air and surrendering to God for help.
