People Take Pictures of Each Other Lyrics

People take pictures of the Summer,
Just in case someone thought they had missed it,
And to proved that it really existed.
Fathers take pictures of the mothers,
And the sisters take pictures of brothers,
Just to show that they love one another.

You can't picture love that you took from me,
When we were young and the world was free.
Pictures of things as they used to be,
Don't show me no more, please.

People take pictures of each other,
Just to prove that they really existed,
Just to prove that they really existed.
People take pictures of each other,
And the moment to last them for ever,
Of the time when they mattered to someone.

People take pictures of the Summer,
Just in case someone thought they had missed it,
Just to proved that it really existed.
People take pictures of each other,
And the moment to last them for ever,
Of the time when they mattered to someone.
Picture of me when I was just three,
Sucking my thumb by the old oak tree.
Oh how I love things as they used to be,
Don't show me no more, please.

I think the most important parts of the song are the two "don't show me no more, please" sections.

It talks about how people take photographs of all these things, "to show that they love one another", but in fact goes on to say that "you can't picture love", and that they don't really bring back "things as they used to be".

The pictures bring a sense of nostalgia, and I think Ray / the narrator doesn't want to see any more as they fail to bring back his real memories of the past.

I love this song.

It's about so many things, nostalgia, loss, the way life sometimes rushes by. It's funny how important photographs are, and how much joy and sorrow they can bring similutaneously

This song is about Facebook :)

This song depicts how difficult it is to look at photos of yourself when you were young to only then have the immediate sadness of acknowledging the ravages of time on your body.

I find looking at pictures of myself from the past harder to look at as I get older.
