Quicksand Lyrics

OK…
Now the monster is awake.
It won't rest 'til there's nothing left.

Maybe ever and anon
I forget about the pain.
Someone bending light comes along
And flowers lean towards the sun.

Some people fall in love and touch the sky
Some people fall in love and find quicksand.
I hover somewhere in between, I swear
I can't make up my mind.

They really need to make this into a good 5 min son. The chorus is just too good to hear only once.

The question this song poses, is "Is love deadly or wonderful?"

Another view of this song could be about addiction (although I am not sure of ever reading him having a drinking or drug problem) The first verse seems like he is saying the "monster" is awake again (the cravings) and won't go away until he get's his fix or until all that he has is gone. It's that satisfaction you crave being an addict but never achieving it. Then the lyric about him forgetting the pain... and the last verse could maybe be about choosing either the drugs/alcohol or getting clean and being with the one he loves?

I also think the last verse is about a relationship with someone who isn't treating you right but you love them so much it's too hard to actually leave.

Whatever the meaning, I love this song but wish it was longer :( It has a beautiful sound to it.

I love the chorus of this song, but is it supposed to have weird, live-like quality? I pirated the album from a torrent (but I'm going to buy it opening day, so don't piss yourself), and this is the only song on the album that has this sound. I'm assuming it's intentional, because "A Kiss To Send Us Off" starts with the same sound. Shame, though. I'd love to hear a studio recording.

Yeah that's how it's supposed to sound because it morphs directly into "A Kiss To Send Us Off." It's a sweet opening though.

I love the ambient quality of the song. And the singing done by Brandon at the beginning is so poignant and beautiful. A great start to the album. I feel it connects well with "Anna Molly" (although it doesn't come until later in the album). To me, it's about being somewhere in the middle of the mess of love. Not knowing if that person for him exists, thus naming her an anomaly. It also transitions nicely into "A Kiss to Send Us Off".

INCREDIBLE! it is just the best way to start of the album. don't think the song needs explaining.

brilliant way to intro a cd

the last 4 line of the cd are the basis of the rest of the album. this album is in fact an exploration and revelation of the story told based on this opening.

Does anyone else get a deftones-esque vibe from this song and a few of the others off Light Grenades? Haven't a clue to the meaning unfortunately
