Fat Children Lyrics
Last night I had a little altercation
They wobbled menacingly
Beneath the yellow street light it became a situation
Well, they wanted my brand-new phone with all the pictures of the kids and the wife
A struggle ensued and then fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Well, some passers-by took me to the station
The police force was elsewhere,
putting bullets in some guy's head for no particular reason
So I died in the back of the cab
but I'll be back to haunt them
This thing does not end here
My spirit walks the streets of Tottenham
Singing:
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Oh, the parents are the problem
Giving birth to maggots without the sense to become flies
So pander to your pampered little princess
of such enormous size
They wobbled menacingly
Beneath the yellow street light it became a situation
Well, they wanted my brand-new phone with all the pictures of the kids and the wife
A struggle ensued and then fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
The police force was elsewhere,
putting bullets in some guy's head for no particular reason
So I died in the back of the cab
but I'll be back to haunt them
This thing does not end here
My spirit walks the streets of Tottenham
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Fat children took my life
Giving birth to maggots without the sense to become flies
So pander to your pampered little princess
of such enormous size

By the way, Jarvis quote about this song: "It's a nasty, spiteful song and I make no apologies for it."
A moment of sheer genius in an all too predictable and boring world of indie/rock.
Best line in any song ever.
I agree with Jayd. Amazing song.
Haha "They wobbled manacingly." The thing (OK, one of the many things) I love about Jarvis is that his lyrics are sometimes funny, sometimes sad or serious... sometimes just plain weird, but always intelligent. He's smart. And he can fit words like 'altercation' into a song, so he deserves a medal. Lol.♥
I still don't get this song.
I love the lyrics, so clever. I can see a bunch of chavs beating up the poor guy.
This song may seem comedic at first, conjuring images of obese children. But Jarvis has always been ambiguous and at times, inaccessible. First verse, he was mugged by kids who wanted his cellphone. His cellphone now being his "life", coz it contained pictures of his wife and kids or whatever things the narrator put in there. Second, Strangers took him to the police station but the police where "elsewhere, putting bullets in some guy's head for no particular reason". Could be the police perfunctoriness over "petty" street crimes such as the narrators'. The narrator died, and became a ghost. Last verse, is an attack towards the parents for rearing children (fat kids) who are irresponsible and have limited understanding in life.
