This song is about being lonely. And holding on to the hope that, as the saying goes "there's someone out there for everyone".
it almost seems like it could be about him touring and just waiting to go back to the girl he loves. or just anyone goin on a trip where they wont see someone they care about for a long time.

I agree I think its just a song to help get through those lonely times. When you're wondering if there really are that many fish in the sea.
Theres a video of Glen singing this acostic by him self. Its great. He switches up the lyrics and I think they fit best how he does it there.
