Every Waking Moment Lyrics
I watched the country move slow
I watched the city for a dollar get sold
I watched a bella take off her clothes
I watched a mile, car window
Every waking moment I'm alive
I'm searching for you
whether I know it
or whether I realize
I've been to Paris
I've been to Rome
Never been to Laos
but I'll lay and say I gone (saigon)
I've been touched by a woman that I lust
I've been real high, I've been real low
Every waking moment I'm alive
I'm searching for you
Whether I know it
or whether I realize
I watched the city for a dollar get sold
I watched a bella take off her clothes
I watched a mile, car window
I'm searching for you
whether I know it
or whether I realize
I've been to Rome
Never been to Laos
but I'll lay and say I gone (saigon)
I've been touched by a woman that I lust
I've been real high, I've been real low
I'm searching for you
Whether I know it
or whether I realize

He's looking for his girl...whether he knows it or whether he realizes.
^^^completely agree. this song is so soulful.

@evilbaby I think you can view this as a simple love song but to me, he is taking stock of his life too and he could be reaching out and up to God (Jah). He counts his blessings and his sins in this song almost like a confession and then says whether he knows it or realizes, every waking moment he is reaching for _____, Could be a woman, could be Jah. TO me, when I listen to this, it is a cry to Jah to forgive the sins and faults he mentions and just hear that the singer is reaching for something greater than himself; I.E. Jah/God. Also, it's structured like a Hymn. It really works nicely both ways.
This is a very simple love song. The melody that accompanies these lyrics is great.
