All The Things She Said Lyrics
Don't you look back on a big lost world
Crying out tomorrow
Don't you look down like the heroes say
Come tell me all about it
Take me to the streets where the bonfires burn
Take me in your arms and I'll fade away
When I hear you say what you got to say
Anywhere you go, you know I'll still be waiting
All the things she said, she said
Little darling close your eyes, there'll be no compromising
Of all the things she said, she said
Throw me to the street where the heartbeats beating
"Beating all around me"
To the peaceful revolution
And the perfect wave, surround me
Tell me 'bout the ocean moving in slow motion
I see it glitter in the sun
Then it's freezing in the moonlight
Never look back, never look back, never look away
If freedom comes and goes, you know I'll still be waiting
All the things she said, she said
You've fought the fight so long, no surrender to temptation
Of all the things she said, she said
Stars will fall out for you
Luck will surrender
I'm calling out to you
Oh to be near you in the first morning light
I'd be with you, I dream about you
If I could leave here, I would leave here tonight
I'd be with you, I'd stay with you tonight
Tonight
Anywhere you go, you know I'll still be waiting
Of all the things she said, she said
When I look into your eyes, I see a new day rising
Of all the things she said, she said
Through the eyes of love, and to never know what hate is
Of all the things she said, she said
She said, this is our time, she said, this is our place
This is the space my heart wants to be
Little darling close your eyes, there'll be no compromising
All the things she said, she said

I am by no means saying this is the meaning of the song, but the following lyrics speak to me:
"Oh to be near you in the first morning light I'd be with you, I dream about you If I could leave here, I would leave here tonight I'd be with you, I'd stay with you tonight"
It reminds me of my current long-distance relationship, and I like to look to these lyrics as inspiration.
"Anywhere you go, you know I'll still be waiting". ;)
How does this song not have any comments? This song is amazing. It was the last song I heard before I met the guy I would ultimately end up dating. Only Jim Kerr can come up with lyrics so deep.
It is a great song, released in 1986....my understanding from the time is that the song is written through the eyes of the wife of Polish Solidarity leader Lech Waless
@Gerrard15 I remember them on MTV saying exactly the same things, Lech Walesa was having a hard time with his movement and his wife would say those things in support of him, and that in turn would make the movement Bloom.

It's both a love song and a political song. Jim Kerr of Simple Minds mentioned it was based on an article he had read about Poland trying to gain it's independence from Russia, and that there were a lot of Polish political prisoners in Russia.
The article he had read was about the wives of those political prisoners and how they felt. Some of the lines of the song are taken from the interviews of those women.
So, it's about long-distance relationships, love, politics, freedom... all the things we've come to expect from Simple Minds.
Yes but is it a love song or a political song? Or both?
Which cunt gave my comment from 2 years ago a -1 ?
It's a valid question and one very well answered by Gerrard15 and acampbell. How haa Gerrards comment bedn given -1 too?
Any fucking tool can come on here and say "it reminds me of my situation" and they get +3 !
