wow how come nobody commented on this song?? now I'm not really into R&B but this song touched my so deep. Havin a life with more than 1 father is hard and just picturing a girl showing so much emotion for his father to let him know shes worth something for him. Anyways..to me I think this song is about a fathers daughter whos only light and hope is his father but the relationship between the mother and father arent working out so the father tends to leave because he cant stand it anymore but the daughter wants him to stay and now she will do anything in order for him to stay with the family. To me...this song means true love within a family.

To me, this song is a father's importance in not only his daughter's life, but in general, his children's. Each verse plays an important scenerio in which a girl is about to lose her beloved father... whether it be physically, emotionally and/or mentally. This song is the girl's plea to keep her father by her side...

i think it's about the different things that happen from the parents relationship not working to her thinking it's her fault that he's leaving feeling helpless. to him dying and her still feeling helpless. it's showing the love his daughter feels for him. sad but beautiful song.

in the music video for this, the first verse, theres a little girl hiding under a table watching her mother and father arguing and then her father walks out but before he does he places a kiss on 2 of his fingers and puts them on her forehead. then the 2nd verse theres an older woman and her father is in a hospital bed and hes obviously dying, and before he dies he places a kiss on his 2 fingers and puts them on her forehead. and then in the hook, its a teenage girl who's father is going away to the army. the father kisses his 2 fingers, places them on her forehead and then salutes to her.
