Tied Together with a Smile Lyrics
Seems the only one who doesn't see your beauty
Is the face in the mirror looking back at you
You walk around here thinking you're not pretty
But that's not true 'cause I know you
[Chorus]
Hold on, baby; you're losing it
The water's high, you're jumping into it
And letting go, and no one knows
That you cry; but you don't tell anyone
That you might not be the golden one
And you're tied together with a smile
But you're coming undone
I guess it's true that love was all you wanted
'Cause you're givin' it away like it's extra change
Hoping it will end up in his pocket
But he leaves you out like a penny in the rain
Oh, 'cause it's not his price to pay
It's not his price to pay
[Chorus x2]
You're tied together with a smile
But you're coming undone, oh
Goodbye, baby
With a smile, baby, baby
Is the face in the mirror looking back at you
You walk around here thinking you're not pretty
But that's not true 'cause I know you
Hold on, baby; you're losing it
The water's high, you're jumping into it
And letting go, and no one knows
That you cry; but you don't tell anyone
That you might not be the golden one
And you're tied together with a smile
But you're coming undone
'Cause you're givin' it away like it's extra change
Hoping it will end up in his pocket
But he leaves you out like a penny in the rain
Oh, 'cause it's not his price to pay
It's not his price to pay
But you're coming undone, oh
Goodbye, baby
With a smile, baby, baby

I went to her concert and she said that it is about her friend with an eating disorder, her friend was the girl all the boys wanted to be with and the one all the girls wanted to be. the day she found out she had an eating disorder she wrote this song for her and it helped taylor and her friend get through it.
its about one of her friends who had an eating disorder
This is my favorite Taylor Swift song of all time. All of her songs are real, but this one is deep and has more emotion than a boy. I like the part:
guess it's true that love was all you wanted, 'cause you're giving it away like it's extra change, hoping it will end up in his pocket, but it leaves you out like a penny in the rain, oh, 'cause it's not his price to pay, it's not his price to pay
its deep. really catchy also, and yeah it is about her friend that had an eating disorder. She seems really caring :]
this song is saying that this girl is pretty but she thinks she is not and she feels so insecure but she still lives her life like everything is perfect and her pretty smile hides it all.She isn't the golden one. She probably thinks she has to live her whole life like nothing is wrong. She is coming undone. It almost seems like she needs to take lipstick and write on her mirror, I AM PRETTY.This girl wants love and can always look at herself and think something is wrong with her when really there is not. It is atually quite sad. No one knows how she really feels.
"Your tied together with a smile but your coming undone"
I let things build up... I dont like people to know when I am sad.. Because to me when you tell everyone or show everyone its asking for attention... But it builds up... it get's to hard to hold it all in. I hide behind my smile but really im hiding from my problems. "seems the only one that doesn't see your beauty, is the face in the mirror looking back at you" When your not yourself your not going to see yourself at your best. You need to face the issue. Dont give up... And DONT hold it all inside..
I can relate to this song. For me it's about not wanting to let people down. Sometimes people expect so much from you and you're so scared of letting them down the smallest flaw is blown way our of propertion really bringing you down, "You cry, but you don't tell anyone". You don't want to let them down so you keep your misery to yourself, instead masking it behind a smile. But inside everything is spiralling downwards more and more. The person you see as yourself has everything little fault magnified and dwelled upon whilst the good bits are ignored. Inside you're falling apart but you don't let anyone else see it lest you disappoint them that you're not really as perfect as they think. I know that sometimes you've just got to put yourself above others but it's easier said than done...
This song is about a pretty girl. everybody always tells her how pretty, smart, and talented she is. but she always find something wrong with herself. Everybody thinks her life is perfect, when its really not. (She might not be the golden one) its about how all people have insecurities. and nobodys perfect. And how we all want to be loved.
... well at least thats how i perseave it.
This song is about not being happy about yourself, and trying to fall in love and stgay opptomistic, but giving up about it.
"The water's high, you're jumping into it and letting go."
Beautiful line
i can relate to this song because its like everyone is tellin me all this stuff (good things) about myself but i dont believe them... i always feel bad about myself (according to others) but the part about crying and not letting them know and stuff that is definitely me especially not letting them know that "you might not be the golden one" everyone thinks im just "happy-go-lucky" and nothing ever bothers me but they dont even know
"you are loved"
