Me & Mr. Jones Lyrics

Nobody stands in between me and my man
It's me and Mr. Jones
(Me and Mr. Jones)

What kind of fuckery is this?
You made me miss the Slick Rick gig
(Oh, Slick Rick)
And thought I didn't love you when I did
(When I did)
Can't believe you played me out like that

No, you ain't worth guest list
Plus one of all them girls you kissed
(All them girls)
You can't keep lying to yourself like this
(To yourself)
Can't believe you played yourself like this

Ruler's one thing, but come Brixton
Nobody stands in between me and my man
'Cause it's me and Mr. Jones
(Me and Mr. Jones)

What kind of fuckery are we?
Nowadays, you don't mean dick to me
(Dick to me)
But I might let you make it up to me
(Make it up)
Who's playing Saturday?

What kind of fuckery are you?
'Side from Sammy, you're my best black Jew
(Best black Jew)
But I could swear that we were through
(We were through)
I still wonder 'bout the things you do

Mr. Destiny, nine and fourteen
Nobody stands in between me and my man
'Cause it's me and Mr. Jones
(Me and Mr. Jones)

I too would be sad if I were to miss a Slick Rick show

Yeah I would have to agree, I think the lyrics david posted are the correct ones. Anyway I love this song, and to my understanding its about Nas (Nasir Jones = Mr. Jones). Basically she is cursing out an ex lover who apparently made her miss a Slick Rick concert, so now she's not inviting him to see the Nas concert because she's not letting anyone stand in between her and Nas. Mr Destiny 9 and 14...im not exactly sure what thats about but i know Nas' daughters name is Destiny, and both he and Amy share the birthday of 9/14 so, all this simply adds to why i love this song so much.

Holy shit... you're right.

no, this is not about a fix. it's definitely about Nas. Nas = Nasir Jones = Mr. Destiny (his daughter) = born on 9/14 same date as Amy.

"Ruler's one thing, but come Brixton"

-Slick Rick is "The Ruler", so she's saying it's one thing to make her miss the his concert but she will not miss Nas'. Nas had a concert at Brixton which was in the news because of gunfire.

The song is about Amy being mad at Blake for coming between her, her Slick Rick concert, and Nas Nasir Jones), her then-current boyfriend. Rulers was a venue where Blake made her miss one concert, but she wouldn't allow the same thing to happen at Brixton, another concert venue. Nowadays [Blake] don't mean dick to her, but she might let him make it up to her by taking her to a concert the following Saturday.

"Aside from Sammy" (Davis, Jr.) "you're" (Nas is) "my best black Jew." She could've sworn she and Blake were through, but she still wonders 'bout the things he does.

"Mr. Destiny" is Nas, as he's the father of Destiny, his daughter, who was born on 9 (September) and 14 (the 14th), sharing the birthdate with Amy.

I love this song, and I love her voice....and did i mention i love this song?

I love this song as well. I think it's pretty self explanatory for the most part. The only thing I'd add is that "Sammy" is in reference to the great Sammy Davis Jr., who was, in fact, a proud "black Jew". :)

It's her and Mr. Jones, cos she's jonesing for a fix. She singing to smack as if it was her boyfriend. She loves him and she hates him. He's caused her so much trouble, and she's bitter cos she wants to get away, but always ends up back with him.

I absolutely LOVE this song!! Amy is brilliant. :)
