Come Down to D.C. Lyrics

Why don't you come down
Come down to D.C.
Come down and see me
Why don't you come down

Just take the bus down
Down to Chinatown
I swear I'll come 'round
And take you away

Chorus:
Let's take a ride, me and you
Crash the car
A suicide, me and you
Arm in arm
Let's take the time, me and you
To get out of this place
I'm dying to see your face, I'm dying to see you

And so the day breaks
Breaks down beneath us
We will just float up
Cause we have no cares

Leave all your things home
You will not need them
Cause where we're going, your pennies are golden

Chorus

I always hear "cause where we're going, your pennies are golden".

Great, great song. So gorgeous. As far as what it means, it's pretty self-explanatory, I think.

Finally I can say I KNOW what a song means. It is based on truth. A girl he was seeing that lived a few hours away via the bus that stops in chinatown and he was constantly going to see her so he wants her to come see him instead. I love it.
