The Saints Are Coming (Skids cover) Lyrics
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the risin' sun
It's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And, God, I know I'm one
I cried to my daddy on the telephone
How long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come down
The line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent, your descent
I cried to my daddy on the telephone
How long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come home
The line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent, your descent
Lo-cha-hey!
The saints are coming
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
The saints are coming
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
A drowning sorrow floods the deepest grief
How long now?
Until the weather change condemns belief
How long now?
When the night watchman lets in the thief
What's wrong now?
Boom! Cha! Hey!
The saints are coming
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
The saints are coming
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
They call the risin' sun
It's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And, God, I know I'm one
How long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come down
The line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent, your descent
How long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come home
The line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent, your descent
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
The saints are coming
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
How long now?
Until the weather change condemns belief
How long now?
When the night watchman lets in the thief
What's wrong now?
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
The saints are coming
The saints are coming
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply
I say no matter how I try
I realize there's no reply

This is an awesome song! I love it. The two bands are great.
It was performed by them for such a great cause and the video shows the message that the song is putting across, it's an awesome message and I'm glad that the bands could put it out like that and show exactly what they thought of how the hurricane Katrina situation was handled.
This is by far one of the best collaboration songs I've ever heard.. I think its obvious to everyone that its about Katrina. And I hope someone else realizes that he doesn't say, "Ho, Cha Hey," but instead, "Go child, hurry".. I didn't realize it at first either, but thats definitely what he says.
This was recorded with U2 and performed at a benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It is originally by The Skids.
I really like this song, I'm not sure but I think its something like theres still hope.
I heard this song for the first time last week, I dunno if I like it or not though...probably will grow on me
After watching the video to the song it all clicked. The video showed news coverage of all the fighter planes coming home from Iraq to save Katrina victims and give supplies all the way through the video, but at the end says "Not as seen on TV" figure it out yourself :P
that totally made sense to me 2 after the vid
that totally made sense to me 2 after the vid
i luv this song...its sad but im glad they dedicated the song to hurrican catrina and all... and plus i luv Green Day and U2
i think this song is very meaningful, and although i hated the fact green days songs were becoming all political, i think they covered it reeaally wel with U2, and its beautiful.
Yo top top cover, The chorus is so uplifting even if it is a direct cover, by the only 2 bands that I've ever back catalogued. I have no idea why fans of one band hate the other, they both are on the same side, just taking it from different angles, hence why both these bands have superior longevity and relevance. The lyrics are modified in the first chorus, they're from another song (not the saint's are coming). Some 70's jazz/bobdylan type sounding song, I know it defiantly wasn't originally dilan, but I can't remember the name of the song. If anyone knows, still top top song and I'm glad they made a verys suitable video clip ---No time and no coping out!
Yeah it's 'House of the Rising Sun' by The Animals, another awesome song.
What a great sounding piece live! Great energy on both parts, U2 and Green Day! I wanna see more stuff like this in the future because the two bands felt really comfortable on stage. Just look here:

I love the end part where they spaz out and sing "I say no matter how I try I realize there's no reply"x3 because it really is a good moment. Great work guys!
