Luv (Sic) Lyrics
There are words I carry in my heart
Words I carry in my heart
Clung to
Glad of
Uncommonly held
Peculiarly interlaced
Remembered and felt
Am I lovesick?
It’s as if love’s the only virtue there is
Am I lovesick?
The plot thins, emotions get frayed
Attractions move through the shade
Done for
Delight in
And forever held
Influence
Given life
Remembered and felt
Am I lovesick?
It’s not as if love’s the only virtue there is
Am I lovesick?
It’s nothing to hate
Who can’t hate can
Got nothing ‘gainst hate
It’s all the planning
It gets hard to remember
We’re best when we’re tender
There are words I carry in my heart
Words I carry in my heart
Words I carry in my heart
Clung to
Glad of
Uncommonly held
Peculiarly interlaced
Remembered and felt
Am I lovesick?
Maybe love is the only virtue there is
Am I lovesick?
Lovesick, lovesick
Love is the only virtue there is
Am I lovesick?
Words I carry in my heart
Clung to
Glad of

This song is a great song that I think is about falling in love with someone, and becoming lovesick, feeling as if "Love's the only virtue there is" and then falling apart while still in love with the person, hoping that "love's not the only virtue there is", eventually thinking that "Maybe love is the only virtue there is" without any escape, and it doesn't matter what the relationship is like, once you're caught in its trap, you're stuck. Very good song.
I had a teacher in High School and her name was Kerry who dated Gord Downie at her time at Queen's university. I'm not too sure about much of the specifics of their relationship, however I know it ended in a rejected marriage proposal. I think the odd spacing of "carry on my heart" is a secret shout out to her. As well I think the song is about being infatuated with someone and not having the feelings reciprocated. As well I think the title is a bit of a play on words as I believe she was studying literature at the time? At least that's what she taught at my highschool. Whether this is speculation or truth; a great tune regardless!
