Cellar Door Lyrics

Haven't seen your face in weeks
And I don't miss what it does to me
An empty space fills with peace

And are you safe?
And are you sheltered?
Did you find your place?
I hope you're careful
because your name means nothing to me

I don't care to hear your song today
I don't wanna hear a single word you'd say
Your apologies are not for me
And all the effort you gave to me
Just let me waste away in peace

What'd you think that you could say
To make me think that it's okay
My peaceful place fills with space
And take a picture if you don't remember
An empty smile on a tired face
I know there's nothing left for you

And I don't care to hear your song today
I don't wanna hear a single word you'd say
Your apologies are not for me
And all effort you gave to me
Just let me waste away in peace

You said you'd wait for me
So, wait your turn
Because it never comes
It never comes

And I don't care to hear your song today
I don't wanna hear a single word you'd say
Your apologies are not for me
And all effort you gave to me
Just let me waste away in peace

I couldn't figure out anything about this song for a really long time. I just didn't know what to think about the lyrics. Now, after listening to it over and over, I think that it's about an odd friendship. A girl or guy is in love with this guy (the songwriter, or the POV of the song), but it's clearly not reciprocated. In all honesty, the singer is getting sick of the person. The first couple lines, "Haven't seen your face in weeks, and I don't miss what it does to me." It seems like the guys is sick of being guilty for not feeling the same way as the person who's in love.
