Innocence Lyrics

It's the first time that I've been here
since I was here with him.
I remember all the wildflowers,
waving in the wind.
Life was an undiscovered river, and I was jumping in headfirst.

It was sink or swim, do or die,
sneaking out on summer nights,
stealing wine from my Pa,
the thrill of night, getting caught.
Now and then I miss those days
but coming back to this place
I realize it ain't him I miss.
It's that young girl, wild-eyed, first love, one time innocence. Yeah.

We ran off to the cornfields just outside the county fair.
There were butterflies in my stomache
and fireflies in the air.
He tried hard not to show it,
oh but he was just as scared as me.

It was sink or swim, do or die,
sneaking out on summer nights,
stealing wine from my Pa,
the thrill of night, getting caught.
Now and then I miss those days
but coming back to this place
I realize it ain't him I miss.
It's that young girl, wild-eyed, first love, one time innocence.

And coming here has made me come to this:
the one thing I can't get back is the one thing I miss.
It was breaking rules, flying blind
what you see through younger eyes
it wasn't what I thought it was.
Man I swore he was the one.
Now and then I miss those days
but coming back to this place
I realize it ain't him I miss.
It's that young girl, wild-eyed, first love, one time innocence. Yeah.
It's that young girl, wile-eyed, firts love, one time innocence, Yeah, it's that innocence.

I def love this song....and i can relate to it sooooo much...

i mean it speaks a good message..and it seems like going back in time, replays to a lot of people....

but i agree with cheergrl on the meaning... deff about believing you were in love...and just living in the moment as a young girl...soo sweet

I think everyone, girls especially, can relate to this song and specifically that special spot that you shared with your ex that you inevitably revisit after the relationship has dwindelled to remember all those "better" times.

This song is one of the reasons I'll always love country music.

"man I swore he was the one" that line gets me every time.

I love this song for it's simplicity. As life just keeps getting busier, it's nice to listen to this song and remember what the good days were like, when you didn't have a care in the world.

it seems like she lost her innocence(virginity)-the one thing I can't get back is the one thing I miss.- cuz she thought it was with the right guy and now she wants to go back to before she lost it

love this

Yeah, so there is a lyric error... it's "The thrill of not getting caught." not "night".
