She haunts the roads
She waits for a new face
The arms red and injured
She wants to rise
She cant till we have faced
I'll cut your armies down
And turn your heart
You wait, I'll wait
I'll lie awake for you
I'll cut your armies down
And turn your heart
You wait, I'll wait
I'll fly away
I'll break
Down
She haunts the road
She waits for a new face,
Face
She waits for a new face
The arms red and injured
She wants to rise
She cant till we have faced
I'll cut your armies down
And turn your heart
I'll lie awake for you
And turn your heart
I'll fly away
I'll break
Down
She waits for a new face,
Face

maybe we're all wrong and dont know what the hell we're talking about.
I think this song deals with someone who can't get a girl out of his mind.
"Roads" could represent how some people say that thoughts are travelling through their mind. "How do these thoughts travel through their minds?" on metaphoric roads.
The line, "she waits for a new face" could mean that she is going to be there until someone elses face takes the place of hers.
I think the lines "The arms red and injured/She wants to rise/She can't 'till we have faced" means that he is holding down the thought of the girl into his head. Injured arms could be on account to being tied down and the thought could be struggling to excape his mind but he doesn't want to let it go becuase he hasn't found another to replace it yet. He won't let the thought of her go until he has another face to replace hers.
The next lines I believe represent his struggle to try and keep the memory of the girl in his mind. He doesn't want to let go of the girl that is haunting his mind. "I'll cut your armies down/and turn your heart," coult represent his endless struggle to try and get her back or to keep her.
"You wait, I'll wait/I'll lie awake for you," seems to mean that he's determined to get this person back.
I think that when he says "I'll break down," he could be literally breaking down from the struggle. At this point and leading up to it, the music gets aggressive it could represent his break down.
The aggressive music subsides and turn back into the calm melody from the beginning. The first lines of the song are repeated at this point and could represent his struggle has ended and he is back to where he was; with the thought of this girl in his head that won't leave until he finds another to replace her.
I also got to thinking that the "new face" could represent a time when he sees the girl again. So in this case, he is not trying to replace her with someone else, only with a new memory.
A very deep song and definately pleasant to listen to. It has it all; deep lyrics, calming melodies, heavy guitar and bass rifts and amazing singing. One of my favorites on the new album.
chino wrote it about a witch back when he was still struggling with certain addictions. there may be a deeper meaning to this, but i'm pretty sure this is just a creepy creation from the mind of chino.
Guys, The Original name of this song was "Comanche". I am pretty sure its about the tribe face death in a fight against the new US government and how they did it with such pride. They died willingly. If they killed people they would rip out the heart of a leader during battle.
The Comanche are know in history for responding to a General in the meeting on the battlefield before battle, when face with 1,000 to 1 odds against them, they would bravely claim, "I'll cut your armies down and tear out your heart."
The "She" could be the spirit of the native tribes of America.
It could also have double meaning. It could also be about a prostitute.
I believe the witch Chino is talking about is La Llorona. She's a pretty creepy part of Hispanic folklore.
These lyrics directly relate to her ...
"She haunts the roads She waits for a new face The arms red and injured She wants to rise She cant till we have faced"
She literally haunts Southwestern American and Mexican roads. She waits for new victims. Apparently if you see her it's a portent of death. She constantly rises from the dead to search for souls to replace those of the children she had and drowned.

The song definitely alludes to far more than that legend though.
Definitely an amazing, beautiful, and eerie song!
Dude, those are not even the correct lyrics.

You could be right, about the meaning of the song, but the correct lyrics are, "She Haunts, the ROSE".

Have no idea what it means, that's just what it is.

This is an amazing song, sounds similar to some older deftones. But takes on a life of it's own.
My favorite on the new album at the moment. It's sort of dreary but fuck, it's chilling and it kicks. I don't even know what it means, though.
maybe its chino's relationship with his wife, since they broke up,
"ill cut your armies down turn ur heart", that causes them to split up, then he says "ill wait for you", just in case she comes back to him. also he describes her as "haunting the roads" and "waiting for a new face", maybe thats chino's way of describing his wife's casual persuit of another man after their relationship
reverie is a dream. maybe he spelled it wrong?
i agree riviere does have sort of a dreamy kind of sound to it if not i think its about an ending relationship hence "she wants to rise, but she cant until we have faced"
