Wait for Me Lyrics
Please don't ask me why
True as a sky
everyone is born to die
So take your time
but don't take mine
lose yourself but don't lose your mind
somewhere out there inbetween
the moon and the sea
I'll be waiting for you, my dear,
so wait for me
You can't regret what you forget
if only you could forget it
but it takes time and plenty of wine
the weight of the world there in your eyes
nothing could ever come to you unless you try, try, try,
you find yourself in trouble
if you cannot tell a lie
its easy as pie
somewhere out there inbetween
the moon and the sea
I'll be waiting for you, my dear,
just wait and see
somewhere out there inbetween
the moon and the sea
I'll be waiting for you, my dear,
so wait for me
True as a sky
everyone is born to die
So take your time
but don't take mine
lose yourself but don't lose your mind
the moon and the sea
I'll be waiting for you, my dear,
so wait for me
if only you could forget it
but it takes time and plenty of wine
the weight of the world there in your eyes
nothing could ever come to you unless you try, try, try,
you find yourself in trouble
if you cannot tell a lie
its easy as pie
the moon and the sea
I'll be waiting for you, my dear,
just wait and see
the moon and the sea
I'll be waiting for you, my dear,
so wait for me

My god, he sounds so much like his father in this song.
I love this song, very beautiful words.
true, he sounds a lot like john in this song. unfortunetely, the sound of his voice comparing with his father's now sounds rather whiney now in present time. back in the day, it was great. i just think with modern times it doesn't connect very well;we've all heard it before. but this is a catchy sean tune i must say. the lyrics don't impress me but i like lines "You can't regret what you forget if only you could forget it" and "everyone is born to die". simple but good.
I like this song very much. This is a rather morbid song, though, in the beginning, at least. True, but morbid.
"Please don't ask me why True as a sky everyone is born to die" I think it means simply that he doesn't know why people die, but they do, and it's unavoidable. "So take your time but don't take mine lose yourself but don't lose your mind" Maybe it's because John was shot, but when I heard this line, I thought of murder. "Take your time," like he's saying to live your life as best you can. "but don't take mine," because no one deserves to have their life cut short like that, especially if someone just kind of decides to kill. "lose yourself, but don't lose your mind," to me, kind of means to let your mind wander, but don't let it wander too far, or it won't find it's way back.
"you can't regret what you forget if only you could forget it" I think that kind of means that there's no reason to forgive if you can forget, which is almost exactly how the line is written, so I think that's pretty literal.
"somewhere out there inbetween the moon and the sea I'll be waiting for you, my dear, so wait for me" Somewhere between the moon and the sea, it sounds like a spiritual/magical kind of scene, so I can only assume by this he means something along the lines of eternity, since the first line of the song is about death. Also, with the second half of the verse, he seems kind of scared to go it alone. Being someone who is absolutely terrified of being alone, I understand this. He would wait for his 'dear,' so he wants to be sure that she would wait for him, too.
"Please don't ask me why True as a sky everyone is born to die"
Why are we born to die? Is there a [hidden] reason? Or: is it just a coincidence, chance? No idea the singer says. And that is probably what most people (I suspect) would probably say. Ultimately, though, the question is not what is important. It's what we answer, what we tell ourselves that is.
"you find yourself in trouble if you cannot tell a lie its easy as pie"
To me ... I think this means that sometimes we do have to lie somewhat about things in general or things that we at first instance, perceive as untrue. This goes back to the other line that says "you can't regret what you forget, if only you could forget it" which imo means that there are some things that we do need to forget and lie about (to a point) because if you don't those things can hold you back ... be it mistakes committed in the past, etc. ... so a person that is creative ... may be more "powerful" in the sense that they are not held back by things ... because they are creative. I think that's Sean Lennon's opinion and it is also mine.
