Healthy Sick Lyrics

Circumstance's confusing
Close my eyes, it isn't there
Tell me what is so amusing
Afraid, a promise promised is just a snare

Eager to reject at first
When frank smiles only make it worse
Down to your heart
That's where it starts
Now the set up seems the same, it don't mean nothing

Eager to retract at first
When frank smiles only make it worse
Down to your toes
That's where it flows
The set up seems the same, it don't prove nothing

Eager to reject at first
When frank smiles only make it worse
Lass finds a swain
Binds'm with chains
And loosens'm again, it don't mean nothing

Sundazed to the core
I must say, I never saw it this way
But it's over now
Sundazed to the core
I must say, it started off a dog-way
But it's over now

These are actually the lyrics to "Sundazed to the Core" (though missing the final stanza). That song is immediately preceded--on Palomine--by "Healthy Sick", a Sebadoh cover. The latter doesn't seem to be present on this site, so I'll add it.

Though I can understand why that final part it missing, because there's sort of a pause at approx. the 5:30 mark, after which the melody (vocal, and by the band) change abruptly; it'd be easy to think it's a different song, if not for the phrase "to the core" (and the track markers on a CD).

Also, most sites on other domains which purport to have the lyrics of this song, they only contain the last six lines from those seen above.

I'll take a shot at it: though not perfect, as I have no reference. It doesn't help that with English being their second language, Bettie Serveert lyrics don't always make a lot of sense.

So...incomplete, and possibly wrong...but better than nothing, I'd hope:

Why do I hesitate Why does it all feel like some big mistake? Tell you how I feel And if it's real To the core and so much more I guess I never knew before How to confide in This [???]

Down in this curtain lake [huh?] I learned to compensate Tell you how it feels And if it's real To the core and so much more I guess I never learned before How to confide in This [???] So [???]

@foreverdrone I looked up the lyrics myself on their official site (bettieserveert.com) and it unfortunately stops where it does on this site. But I don't think the words are "curtain lake". English is actually the singer/lyricist Carol van Dyk's first language; she was born in Vancouver, Canada and lived there until she was seven I think. Now I'm gonna have to listen to that song to try and remember/figure out the lyrics to the last part. :p
