I Am A Pirate You Are A Princess Lyrics

is there a hole in your heart
or am i mistaken
i can see your capillary veins
you be the patient i'll be the surgeon
just like 1st grade on the playground all day

soon enough you'll hear the black top calling for you
after that there is not much else you can do

have you forgotten your place
I'm being sarcastic
that shit could kill a bus of kids

we have a good thing
she is a bad thing
why would she want to break us
who would want to break us

soon enough you'll hear the black top calling your name
every day your life will never be the same

i am a pirate you are a princess
we could sail the seven seas
bring back some presents
for all the people
everyone will love us, courtney will love us

I TOTALLY agree with FromAbigail,Its anout how theyve known eachouther a while, theyre young and In love, and theyre gonna part. So hes talking about going back to when he was a "pirate" and she was a "princess" meaning, their younger days when everything was okay.

I know how he feels.

this song is about school and growing up... i've had teachers who told me things like "have you forgotten your place" and things like that. It's about how adults don't want children to be happy, they just want them to hate the world because to adults the world is ugly. or something lik that...

This song is beautiful, and to me, It is about young love, and how they have known eachother for so long, and they would hate to have to separate (soon enough you'll hear the black top calling for you after that there is not much else you can do) but they know it would have to happen someday.

I also have another view, It is the way Dan is seeing things, as he is so inlove, he starts acting like a child on the playground, fooling around, but then as everyone has before, getting all happy, and hyper, and then being disapointed. I dont know, but i know this is beautiful.

i like your interpretation, potato ;p i think that's why i like it so much too. how adults forget the child in them. and how that can make lovers act cold and serious rather than being playful with eachother.

When he says Courtney at the end he is refering to one of his ex girlfriends, he used to date a girl named Courtney. Courtney used to be my best friend and we would ride around in her car and listening to this song and she would say "That's MY NAME That's MY NAME! remember that when he becomes famous!" Dan is saying that Courtney will be happy for him and his new relationship. And the song is all about that relationship.
