Eleanor Lyrics

If you close your eyes
You will see yourself
All this time I spent running away
Was a waste of time

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
Loves in your hands I swear
Loves in your hands

When that train rolls by
I will save your life

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
Loves in your hands I swear
Loves in your hands I swear

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
Loves in your hands I swear
My loves in your hands

There's no reason to feel a love miss given
No reason to be holding you
No reason to be holding you, you
No reason to be holding

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
My Loves in your hands I swear
My Loves in your hands I swear

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
My loves in your hands I swear
My Loves in your hands I swear

Oooh
Aaaah

Very VERY beatles-ish. The acoustic guitar, the melody, the harmonies, the lyrics, the use of a girls name in the song... vErY beatles-like.

Yeah... the singing even sounds like the Beatles... had I heard this without it knowing it was Jet... I would of said it was the Beatles

The intro is practically identical to 'Here comes the Sun". My 3yr old loves singing along,in fact, she sings herself to sleep with it some nights. Such a mellow song.

I don't think the Beatles are the only band to have a girls name in the lyrics of a song. But will agree that the arrangement is beatlesque. I think its a good song, and the meaning seems to be pretty straight forward, Guys relationship with chick Eleanor, has gone bad, he walked away. Realised it was the wrong thing and basically is pleading to be taken back. "My Love is in your hands" meaning she is in control of what happens if they get back together or not. Thats my take on it anyway.

To me, Eleanor is emotionally sick - like she has depression or some kind of disorder and the guy's asking her to stay with him, for her to believe he loves her.

'When that train rolls by I will save your life' - again, with the depression, this could be referring to suicide or even just something overwhelming, and he'll save her from it.

'There's no reason to feel a love misgiven' - saying that she shouldn't doubt his love.

With everyone rushing around, coming and going, always moving, when the train rolls by I'll still be there for you.
