Such Great Heights (The Postal Service cover) Lyrics
I was thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and when we kiss
They're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate
That God himself did make us
Into corresponding shapes
Like puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch
But it's thoughts like this that catch
My troubled head when you're away
When I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road
For several weeks of shows
And when you scan the radio
I hope this song will guide you home
They will see us waving from such great
heights
"Come down now," they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
"Come down now," but we'll stay . . .
I tried my best to leave
This all on your machine
But the persistent beat
It sounded thin upon listening
And that frankly will not fly
You will hear the shrillest highs
And lowest lows with the windows down
When this is guiding you home
They will see us waving from such great
heights
"Come down now," they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
"Come down now," but we'll stay . . .
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and when we kiss
They're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate
That God himself did make us
Into corresponding shapes
Like puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch
But it's thoughts like this that catch
My troubled head when you're away
When I am missing you to death

This cover was originally by The Postal Service and you can find this at automaticjoy.com
Actually it was originally done by Iron & Wine, The Postal Service covered it as well. Didn't know The Dresden Dolls coveredit too!
Oh or maybe iron&wine covered it. I don't know. Both versions are great anyhow. And I'm sure the Dresden's is too!
The Postal Service is the original artist for this song.
As it has been stated above, it was originally written and recorded by the postal service. It has been covered numerous times, most notably by Iron & Wine on the Garden State movie soundtrack. Live/unreleased covers have also been performed by Rilo Kiley and Ben Folds. The Dresden Dolls cover is news to me!
to the creator of automaticjoy.com, i think i love you. seriously, if anyone hasn't checked it out, do. amazing song, and this version gives me shivers up my spine every time. its flipping beautiful.
Postal Service did the original. I know it would seem like Iron and Wine did, but it wasn't him, it was Postal Service. You can tell by the style. It is written like a Death Cab for Cutie song, because Ben Gibbard is the vocalist and songwriter for both bands.
Amanda Palmer covered this song during a Dresden Dolls tour while Brain was MIA due to having a high fever. Here is a video of the performance.
