I love this song. Its beautiful. The piano chords are amazing. Jesse's voice is wonderful. And the cello compliments both of these elements.
Being an avid Jesse Arthur McCartney fan, naturally I have memorized every lyric and spent my free time analyzing these lyrics on my own.
So far I have come up with this for Right Back In The Water;
He loves this girl. And she dosent feel like they should be together. But he wants to do whats best for her, despite his own feelings of loving her. He is addicted to it. Or moreso he describes it as 'contageous' and has the thought embeddedd into his mind that they were 'meant to be' and he 'cant leave her', so all in all, they are 'Right Back In The Water'; or back to the starting point. Back to the begginng of this never ending circle.
Then the bridge, that states 'I wanna walk but there is something that won't let me' ; this is typically an inference that he is screaming inside to tell this girl that she cant leave him, they were meant to be, and he cannot stop himself from loving her. He couldnet let go even if he wanted to. But because of the fact that he loves her so much and only wants whats best for her, he keeps his mouth shut and his tears inside. And this is the 'something' that wont let him walk.

i think its about that he knows that this girl doesnt love him anymore, and he cant really take that, but he loves her too much to let go..

I understand what this song is talking about... I feel the same way with this guy right now.
It's about a guy who has a girl whom he cares so much for, but things are always wrong when they are together. And there's always something keeping them apart romantically.
Despite that, she's told him that she cares for him {"Maybe I'm just another one of her lies..."}. Since things are always bad, he doesnt know what to believe anymore. His friends want him to move on and get over her, but because he cares so much for her, he just can't give up on her. There's something that always pulls him back to her. Deep in his heart, he knows that its wrong for him, and he knows he's going to get hurt over and over again {"We're right back in the water..."}, but he just can't (or wont) give up.
