Steal a Mule Lyrics
Well theres a moon shining bright
Little partner, let's light a fire tonight
Rob a bank, steal a mule
Little partner, well be nobodys fool
And well run like heroes run
Yeah well run when the mornin comes
Many men on our tail
Little partner, run fore we go to jail
And if they catch you, have no doubt
Little partner, Ill come and break you out
And well run like heroes run
Yeah well run when the mornin comes
Oh well run with the mornin sun
Yeah well run like heroes run
(whistling)
Many moons have gone by
Little partner, sometimes I wonder why
People turn and betray
Little partner, someday Ill come your way
And well run like heroes run
Yeah well run when the mornin comes
Yeah well run with the mornin sun
Yeah well run like heroes run
Like heroes run, like heroes run, like heroes run, like heroes...
Little partner, let's light a fire tonight
Rob a bank, steal a mule
Little partner, well be nobodys fool
And well run like heroes run
Yeah well run when the mornin comes
Little partner, run fore we go to jail
And if they catch you, have no doubt
Little partner, Ill come and break you out
Yeah well run when the mornin comes
Oh well run with the mornin sun
Yeah well run like heroes run
Little partner, sometimes I wonder why
People turn and betray
Little partner, someday Ill come your way
Yeah well run when the mornin comes
Yeah well run with the mornin sun
Yeah well run like heroes run

This is NOT the meaning, but it reminds me of best friends in high school; doing stupid shit together, one gets caught, the other figures out a way to save his/her ass.
Although I'm not positive, I think Damien Rice wrote this specifically for the film 'Mickybo and Me.' And that's basically what it's about: two little boys who are best friends and get into trouble together but the turmoil in N Ireland eventually alienates them from eachother. Brilliant film, brilliant song - I only wish I could get my hands on it.
Yeah, I agree. The lyrics are too perfect for the film to not have been written especially for it. Such a cute song, and, even though I'm a massive Damien Rice fan, I wish he'd include more stuff like this and 'Cross-Eyed Bear' on his albums. It's absolutely lovely.
